I'm interested in getting a Ph.D. solely for personal purposes. I'm currently finishing up a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Thanks to Degree Info and Degree forum - I have a master's in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, MBA, and an MSN. Liberty's Ph.D. program looks tempting. I just learned there are DNP to Ph.D. program. I wanted to know my background's best and most affordable options for getting a Ph.D. Oh Yeah. I don't want to teach. I'm self-employed and have no thoughts of ever working for the "man" again. I'm only interested in CONUS schools. That has a "decent" reputation. Excuse my grammar. I went to public school in Louisiana.
You might want to take a look at Duquesne University's 38 credit programs. You might have to learn how to pronounce the school name, and maybe teach people how to pronounce it after you earned your degree. Liberty's Ph.D. is focused on nursing education. It appears affordable and if they accept your DNP credits, you are halfway there! I looked at the Ph.D. at Liberty but I have old RA nursing doctoral credits that are beyond the time limits for transfer. I love teaching but the money isn't there. I've done adjunct on occasion and it was fun. As an FNP, I've applied for post-master certificates to add another specialty. Is your DNP program an NP focus? I would definitely talk with some Ph.D. nurses and get their take on the journey. It's a lot of work for a feather in your cap. Especially, if you don't plan on using it!
I used to pronounce "Do Kez Knee", then when I tried look at its new Yellow Ribbon program. I was told it is pronounced "Do cane."
We can't even begin to recommend the numerous DL, Hybrid, and on-campus nursing degree programs offered in this country and abroad. Finding a school would be like attempting to shoot the broad side of a Barn from 10 feet....not too difficult!
I have taken a long and circuitous route within nursing. May I ask where you’re earning your DNP and in what concentration?
