To anyone? "Most people" implies there are those for whom there is a real difference. I'm struggling to see it.

Yes, it does. The vast majority of ranked B-schools are AACSB-accredited.

That would be a distinction that might make a difference. Of course, we don't know the magnitude of this phenomenon. I can't imagine it is significant.

It could be all perception rather than any real difference, and even then that's only with people who know about them. Most people don't even know they exist. What I've seen over many years now is the same type of thing I've seen with RA over NA debates: much greater transfer utility for AACSB grads to other AACSB programs (never seen any actual numbers for this though), and a higher request rate for AACSB program grads in job postings in comparison to ACBSP program grads (I've seen this difference myself in years past, not sure what it looks like now).

I have not particularly sought them out but I have yet to have seen a business faculty position prefer an ACBSP terminal degree over an AACSB terminal degree. Obviously, not saying it does not happen I just have not seen it myself yet. Most I have seen state one of two things:

    1) Requires AACSB Accredited PhD/DBA

    Or

    2) Requires AACSB, or ACBSP, Accredited PhD/DBA

I know that you would not say such unless you have seen it but I have not yet. I'd be interested in seeing a posting of such when you come across one! :)

Let's be clear, I have always shared that AACSB accreditation is the "gold standard." I wouldn't think that an AACSB school would prefer an ACBSP accredited terminal degree over an AACSB one. However, as I said, I saw where an ACBSP school listed an ACBSP doctorate as a required qualification.

I have seen those too. Still, most schools do not mention program accreditation in job announcements, save for describing their business school. Typically, it's just a Ph.D. or DBA from an accredited school.

This had to be several years ago when I was considering a DBA. I am not seeking any faculty position in business or otherwise. I leave higher ed job search to those who aspire to enter the academy.

I think it may be a useful thing.
I just finished a short training module on Boy Scouts of America unit quality program called "Journey to Excellence". We don't really bother with it in our troop, but the idea is things a unit does to earn JTE points are all elements of a good program, anyway. Earning a patch itself may be meaningless; activities you do to get there are not. If ACBSP accreditation program is anything like that, a school pursuing it may thereby plan and deliver a better Business degree program. In theory.
