Colleges and universities, unfortunately, use the same pedagogical methods used by primary and secondary schools. Thus, when outbreaks occur, they're in the same situation as are K-12 schools, which don't have an alternative to pedagogy.

However, colleges and universities are teaching adults. Switching to andragogical methods (like facilitating instead of teaching) would make the move to online learning soooo much easier. Instead, they--like the ElHi crowd, are trying instead to stuff a very large pimento into a very small olive.

Since a few of you asked, here are just a couple of the many former conspiracy theories related to Covid that are now true.

    1. Cloth masks are not effective.
    2. Vaccinated people can still get Covid.
    3. Vaccinated people can still spread Covid.
    4. Vaccine passports will happen.
    5. You will lose your job if you don't get the vaccine.
    6. Quarantine camps will be a thing.
    7. This will lead to microchipping people.

All seven off the top of my head were false right wing conspiracy theories in 2020 and all seven are true in 2021.

Those are huge generalizations for which you offer no support. Additionally, you in no way establish that they are or were "conspiracy theories." In fact, numbers 1-3 were not conspiracy theories at all, while 4-7 have not happened. Some people have lost jobs--#5--but it is in no way a policy, law, etc. And some people in some situations have had to demonstrate that they are vaccinated--#4. But again, not a widespread policy or law.

While this is just a discussion board, even by that standard this post is extremely sloppy and inaccurate.

Lol okay. I'm not going to write a discussion board post in APA format for you. You can continue being ignorant and ignoring the facts. Have fun.

I would expect the people on this board to be able to do better research and use their critical thinking skills better than I've seen as it relates to Covid. Very disappointing, but not surprising. Good bye.

This is a pretty common reaction when crazy is asked for proof.

Thanks for calling me "ignorant." That was really polite of you.

Still better than nothing at all, except specific types of cloth. This is NOT a reason to just go maskless. Too many are using "some masks are useless" as an excuse to not wear even FFP2/N95 masks. F those people.

It was hoped that this wasn't so, and for a time it looked to be true. But the reality is that NO vaccine is ever 100%. If you get vaccinated for whooping cough or measles, you can still catch whooping cough or measles. Your symptoms will usually be much less severe than if you were unvaccinated, though. This is not an excuse to skip vaccination.

See above. Also, vaccinated people are at least less likely to spread covid because they're able to get over the disease more quickly.

They're a thing in Europe, yes. Possibly Asia, too. So what? They've been a thing for DECADES. Possibly over a century (I forget when they started and don't care to look it up). If you object to being told to show proof that you're not a plague rat, the answer is simple: don't go to places that require the passport.

Some jobs have always required vaccinations. It's poor form to allow your customers to be sickened by your employees. It's also poor form to willingly allow your employees to sicken one another if there is something you can do to stop it.

Okay, sure, quarantine hotels are a thing in some countries. So what? This is a centuries-old concept. You're not held permanently. Also, this is a direct consequence of people being unwilling to quarantine voluntarily and to not spread the disease to everyone around them.

WTF? If you mean vaccine passports, that isn't a microchip. Nobody is being microchipped.

    Just... nope.

"Preferred site: Deltoid muscle in the upper arm" Of course "preferred" allows for flexibility, However, many local protocols and directors do not! As far as "what jurisdiction" go pound sand! I only brought this up because someone was curious about 1/2 dose for children. Are you a medical provider?

I can empathize as I have been called an "anti-vaxxer" even though I volunteer many hours administering the vaccine because our nurses are burnt out or dead. I have to remember "sticks and stones." Happy New Year everyone!

I can't possibly imagine why those nurses are burned out or dead.

Stop imagining! Burnout and death are a reality!

Nurses' burnout and associated risk factors during the COVID‐19 pandemic: A systematic review and meta‐analysis (nih.gov)

Using the "ignorant" word is nice compared to what I want to call many of you folks on DI but I restrain myself. I'm taking a break from this shit show.

I think you missed my obvious sarcasm. People who believe COVID conspiracy theories are the reason nurses are burned out. People who ignore simple public health measures and then go to the hospital when they get a preventable COVID infection are the reason so many nurses are dead.

How in your twisted mind is the loss of life elevated to a laughing matter? I have lost colleagues to the damn covid virus and family members who are nurses. I have put my life on the line as an APRN helping those and you turn it into a mockery. Go to hell!
