    I'll take one, please!

COVID-19 delayed my start date with my new employer by 4 months. Due to a compendium of different company policies that worked against my favor, that minor timing issue is the reason why I didn't qualify for one pay differential and two merit increases that would have amounted to me earning $11k per year more than I currently do. I have to wait another year before I get my first raise and it will be another 2 years after that before I finally start to make as much as I could have been making now.

    I mean, fudge. :emoji_confounded:

I'm doing the opposite. This month, I close out nearly 33 years of public service (plus a bunch more in the private sector). No more jobs for me, I think. I've become a solopreneur, running my own full-time consulting business. Needless to say, it's been busy juggling both, but I'm done with that in a few weeks.
