Is it reasonable to think that the world will be back to normal around december 2021?

That lockdowns won't be a thing anymore, that Covid will not be as deadly anymore and that it will just be a little flue and treated as such? Is that a realistic expectation for around December 2021?

We work on a staggered schedule at work with one team working in office one week and the other team working in office the other week. Will that still be a thing around December you think or do you think work places will already be back at full capacity around then?

The vaccines seem to be working so good that there is no danger anymore.

I don't know what news you're reading, but Delta is still able to infect and kill vaccinated people. And Delta is so contagious that sheer numbers mean that more people will become infected and die, especially as lockdown and quarantine measures are lowered.

Covid is still deadly. Deadlier than ever. But people are tired and no longer care, if they ever did.

    Well.

Earth Overshoot Day 2019 was July 29th. I don't think that the pre-corona world was normal anyway.

No, because there are too many morons out there who think it’s all one big hoax

Unfortunately we are not out of woods, the appearance that we are is misleading. As it was stated earlier the delta variant is very contagious and the numbers of infected people is rising.
Third vaccination is considered and in Israel I think they started administering to persons 60 years and older a third injection.
I'm usually following CDC for data.

Delta variant has changed everything and unfortunately it’s compounded by a politicized vaccine and safety protocols. This Fall will be a challenge, I’m even debating cancelling a Disney vacation I booked for my kids.

I really hoped we would be back to normal in a month or 2. This seems like a world war. Almost 2 years that this stuff is ongoing.
Oh, tell me about the vaccine! I'm still super tired from it, sadly. Never recovered since I had it. Fatigue, muscle pains etc.
I was hoping to go on a short holiday in October but guess that will not be for this year, sadly.
Yes, the Delta-variant is still circulating but almost no deaths reported anymore so why is the world still so cautious?

More normal than now. Will people ever shake each others hands anymore? Give each other hugs? When you see pre-corona movies where that is still happening you wonder if we will ever return to that. People have grown scared of each other's presence. Loneliness for the elderly is killing too. My 83 year old neighbour is so alone, we regularly have her over for dinner so that she has a bit of company but it makes you realise how these measures are killing old people anyway. Ironically, these measures were meant to protect THEM in particular. Sad. Being at the end of your life and having to die without your children or grandchildren around you. Politicians are also killing people with these too tight measures.

It's not JUST about the deaths, though deaths are rising again. If you catch covid, you've got a good chance of getting "Long Covid". Long Covid really sucks and there's no cure for that. You might not be dead but you might wish you were. The vaccinations have not been proven to protect against Long Covid.

Not very many. The vast majority of cases being reported are on unvaccinated people. The few vaccinated people who get sick are reported on a lot--"man bites dog" kind of stuff. But the numbers tell a different story.

Remarkably, not only are unvaccinated people infecting and killing each other, vaccinated people are also a threat to the unvaccinated (but not to each other). Vaccinated people can carry the virus--their immune systems fight it off to keep them from becoming sick, but they can still carry it--and pass it along to unvaccinated people. Double whammy.

The real explosion is about to come when kids are forced, unprotected, back into the classroom. Remember when they tried that last year? Well, the delta variation is going to make that a debacle.
Some scientists are now saying everyone who is not vaccinated will get the delta variant. Everyone.
Why would this one vaccine cause so much uproar? Because it's not about the vaccine. Certain elements of our society have decided to make this a stand against other things they don't like. Yes, there are people who truly object on sincere (if wrong) medical or religious grounds. But they've always been out there. What makes this different is the "You're Not the Boss of Me" attitude. A lot of that going around these days. Look to January 6th for an extreme example.

I have had Long Covid, so I know that it's a struggle. I catched Covid in March 2020 and the symptoms persisted until April 2021, even though I was already healed. In February 2021 I catched Covid , British variant , for the second time and recovered from that second episode without additional problems. For me it was the first time infection that caused me to have been chronically ill for such a long time. Still, I'm an exception. My mother recovered from Covid without much hazard afterwards. She's 51. I know people well into their 80s who caught Covid and didn't struggle months afterwards. They were ill the first few weeks but that was it. It's only a small fraction of all contamined people who retain long-term symptoms. That can happen with any other ilness too. If you catch Lyme-disease you can be handicapped from the Borelia-Burgdorfery (Lyme borelliose ) bacteria too for the rest of your life, yet people aren't prevented to go into the grass where in summer they are most likely to catch it. Yet, we shut an entire world economy down for a virus that has decreased in intensity with at least 90 percent. At this point, I see mostly political motivations to keep people locked up and control them as long as possible. And no, I'm not a conspiracy-theorist who touts around that Bill Gates is planning a great reset. But I'm not a sheep following the herd without reason, either.

With the recent understanding of the Delta variant dangers (see leaked CDC memo, viral load studies, and the 800 person Provincetown(?) case study) we have serious problems. All compounded by a political/culture war, low vaccination rates, and even drops in vaccine effectiveness. The dangers that we face as we head into the Fall are significant enough that even America’s leading obstructionist, who has created a significant amount of the division, is drawing upon his own campaign funds with a personal plea to his constituents to get vaccinated.

The concern is that the drop of vaccine effectiveness and the fight the virus is putting to stay in-life is of concern as some vaccinated people developed infections.
The reports are coming from medical professionals, and dentists as well. people who delayed implant surgery on a very healthy tissue till after vaccination and other events developed Asymptomatic infections in a what was a healthy tissue ready for the implant.
    It happened to multiple patients.
As of July 26, 2021, more than 163 million people in the United States had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
During the same time, CDC received reports from 49 U.S. states and territories of 6,587 patients with COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough infection who were hospitalized or died.

I check with CDC for additional info:

Governments all over the world waited to long to do something.
    Is this a coincidence though?
    Not so sure about that.
But for politically correct reasons I will not elaborate on my hypothesis that this was '' planned''.
The Pharma industry was willing to help much sooner but was blocked by the government until they had a go-ahead.
The Pharma industry has nothing to blame itself for. It's the incompetency of governments which caused this.
    Hospitals did all they could.
The Pharma industry did all it could.
    The governments did nothing.

For the moment, I'm not so concerned about getting severely ill because I'm vaccinated, but that could change.

    1. Since vaccinated and unvaccinated people can still become infected and shed the virus, the virus will continue to mutate.
    2. We can't just worry about the delta variant. As long as this virus spreads among so many people, it can mutate into something worse or something that renders the vaccines ineffective. They might have to make changes to future vaccines because of new variants.
    3. Deaths are going up in Florida, but I think people are too focused on the low death rates. The hospitals have gotten better at preventing deaths, but I don't know anyone who wants to be hospitalized or deal with long COVID. Okay, you survived, but now you have long-term brain and lung damage.

Agreed. It seems that lunatic conspiracy theories are even more virulent than the Delta variant.

I've been disappointed by how much of this there is in the libertarian movement. It reminds me of that G.K. Chesterton quote, "To have a right to do a thing is not at all the same as to be right in doing it."

Coronavirus will remain for years to come. It is the new "flu" strain that's going to persist and mutate like the current influenza strains. People will need to be vaccinated yearly if they want the protection to keep safer from ever changing variants. This won't end, just like the 'flu', it'll continue on. Some people will want to get these vaccines and others will not, it's a never ending vicious cycle of diseases...
