Say it ain't so! I've so enjoyed learning from you. If you're writing somewhere else, I look forward to subscribing to The Johann Star (or perhaps the Johann and Mail) to read all about it.

Been accepted by Brown School, Uni of Washington for the post masters. I will be accepting the offer.

Congrats! Interesting program. I've heard Edward Tufte's books are the gold standard in data visualization. What are you hoping to get out of the program? Looks like 25 hours or so of class meetings plus another 25 hours of self-paced work, so a little less than might be required for a course in data visualization. Do you think the $2K is worth it (or maybe you're getting reimbursed)?

Edit: Also! I'm curious about your background. I see one of the instructors is an MSW and the program qualifies for Social Work or Public Health credit.

I'm hoping to boost my Isabel I mba mostly actually.
Data is a much asked for field and I believe that if you have a qualification from a uni that is renown it will give you a significant step ahead of other applicants when applying for a position with the big 4.
I would still love to get hired by one of the big 4 despite having been turned down by PWC.
A position with Amazon in their management department would also appeal to me as pay is really good there.
Or a management position within UPS.
I think the bigger corporations are the ones that still look for '' name brands '' when screening one's cv.
So a qualification from University of Washington Saint Louis would definitely impress them I think.

$2k is actually expensive for such a short programme but it lives up to American tuition fees I think.
So I was prepared for it to be this expensive for a short course.

Here in Belgium $2k is enough for 2 years at university in tuition :p

It appeals to me that it's a post masters. That alone will give it recognition in my opinion.
If it would have been a course certificate I might not have taken it, but a post master's gives it quite some credibility.

My background is mostly in law actually.
I finished the better part of a bachelor in law and have an associate's in law.
    I'm a paralegal.
I'm very interested in legal tech.
Which is a booming field as of recently.
I believe that being trained in data will give a step ahead to get hired in that field as well.
I would love to work for Baker McKenzie, a quite famous law firm here in Belgium.

It's also really reassuring that they asked for transcripts and for a copy of the degree and still accepted my admission based on the Universidad I titulo propio.
That alone is a major milestone for me.
That the Universidad Isabel I mba is finally getting some '' recognition '' and that I can proudly display it on my cv.

I know that some people still only see an AACSB accredited mba as a real mba.
Today I read on a forum about someone from Harvard having applied for the Quantic mba, being rejected, and now calling it a scam and saying that it's just '' playing with an app on your phone '' and that it's not a real mba.
Recognition of non-triple-crown-accredited mba qualifications by the work field and the better universities in the world signals that the triple crown accreditation lacking is not a disqualifier for an MBA to be qualitative in my humble opinion.
So I'm already glad with the achievement of having been accepted for admission :)

Yes, I know who you're talking about. They attend Harvard Extension School (HES) and complain about not being able to list Harvard University on their resume because they don't want to disclose that it's from the extension school.

HES is a fine school, but they require you to list your college or degree title (the ALM is awarded instead of the AM at HES) and this particular student wants to go against the school's own requirements for properly recording what degree they earned.

I think there's some insecurities there they need to deal with.

Will be interesting though whether Quantic accepts me or not @Dustin

Likely not but the fact that a top notch uni like Uni of Washington accepts me means so much to me.

Another free mba would be amazing but not per se the end of the world haha.
Still, it's free and therefor desirable :)

You were accepted by Washington University in St. Louis, a private institution in Missouri. That's a different institution than the University of Washington. (Both are well regarded universities, though.)

    Yes,
    Sorry,
Was not my intention to mislead.
I just didn't think the order in which I mentioned the words would make that much of a difference.
I'm still really happy though with the admission decision.
2k$ is super reasonable for a post master's.

It was clearly an honest mistake! In the U.S., countless things are named after George Washington. Just in higher education there's also George Washington University in D.C., Washington College in Maryland, Washington-Lee University in Virginia, and I'm sure many more that I'm not thinking of offhand.

    Anyway, congratulations. :)

Washington University in St. Louis is better ranked than the University of Washington :)

I wasn't reading this thread closely, but when I saw Washington, I thought first about Washington University in St. Louis. Kind of funny. Apparently, I have the rankings preloaded in my head.

Drive my bodyfat down to 12% by mid-year, and keep it very close to that the rest of the year. Get my sons exercising a lot more.
Planning a 3-month trip to Europe in the spring of 2022, so a major goal for us is to keep our savings plan on the rails.
A lot more fishing, and trips to the beach and lake. Kill a couple of feral hogs with my bow, and get them in the freezer :)
Finish up the masters I am working on.
My sons do not go to school. Educating them has not been overly difficult thus far. THIS year the plan is being ramped up a lot, so being diligent in its implementation is a big goal.
Increase my contacts and assets overseas

My goals are more detailed and quantifiable, but these are the basics.

    I actually did this!

I'm back up to 2 miles consistently and 2.5 miles on a good day so I'm getting there!
