I seem to be the finder of all degrees that are expensive and this one is not an exception. Ha! University of Virginia is a premier public university that has many highly regarded schools. The School of Data Science seems new as is this degree offering. I am certain it will be a great success as are most of UVA programs. https://onlinedatasciencemasters.virginia.edu/
Curriculum looks very comprehensive. I think that would be a great program for an aspiring Data Scientist.
Yes, but it is much old wine in new wineskins, too. Compare a random curriculum of a random new data science school with the 10 years old Open University course M248 („Analysing Data“), and you will immediately see what I mean.
Seems like a very good program! And You are correct - $43K Tuition: https://onlinedatasciencemasters.virginia.edu/admissions/tuition-fees-and-aid/ I think the MOOC's such as coursera/edx and the partner universities have cornered the market for cheaper yet known university degrees for cheap/easy/fast.
I think the Coursera/EdX degree offerings are great, but one thing that is different is that the professors do not develop the curriculum for the Coursera/EdX courses like they do in these more expensive programs. That is neither good nor bad but it is certainly a factor in the increased cost due to WHO is developing the program/courses.
