Just curious has anyone found any EDD programs with no dissertation or capstone? I have search and haven't found one yet.

I guess I wouldn't understand the point of a doctorate without some kind of original research or professional-level project that demonstrated mastery of various competencies, or originality in concept and/or design.

Hell, why stop there? How about a Doctorate entirely by unproctored 20-question multiple choice exams?

LOL, are you looking for a doctorate by research or not? I don't get the no capstone/dissertation part. I guess you're just looking for a doctorate with just assignments and courses? There might be some if not a very small number, but a vast majority will require 1-3 years research, and a capstone or dissertation. Keep looking, I think I found a few far and in between...

I only asked this ridiculous question because I have seen a few programs lately that don't have a dissertation or capstone. It was just a curiosity question not to get anyone's panties in a bunch. Some of the programs I have seen were Virginia University of Lynchburg DHA program, Eastern Virginia Medical School DHSc , Arizona State University DBH, A few doctorate in nursing and doctorate in physical therapy programs, etc...
I did find an interesting one over at the University of Miami Ed.D in applied learning sciences. https://bulletin.miami.edu/graduate-academic-programs/education-human-development/teaching-learning/applied-learning-sciences-edd/#curriculumtext
Not saying its impossible but just was curious...

It wasn't a ridiculous question, but I think it amused people because, based on prior discussions, you'll find that the general consensus here is that there should be some kind of work that solidifies the studies for a Doctoral program and I tend to agree. You mentioned the VUL DHA, and while that program doesn't carry a dissertation or a capstone, it does carry 12-credit hours of practicum work in teaching, research, and leadership. Hard to count the DHsc and DBH in this because they're two degrees still trying to get their footing, the DBH much more than the DHsc.

Correct VUL DHA does carry that, I was just curious about programs in the education field. I found a few more that require projects or group projects but I would consider that to be like a capstone. I am not specifically looking for any program to jump into right now but it was worth asking a question to the forum as we all always have an eye out for programs. Information could help someone else down the road in making school decisions, not to discourage anyone from doing their own research as they should.

It would be a hit with me for sure, I just want the title "Doctor" for vanity sake :p

I'd much rather spend real time doing something like an LLM or an MPP than waste my life on the several years of research needed for a doctorate when I have no intention to go into academic research and teaching jobs are dried up. Being able to just be a thorn in the side of the really prickly people who think the only real doctorate is the one they got would be a reward all in its own.

Maybe a PhD in Conscious Business Ethics from the University of Sedona?

Business Ethics is a recognized field. University of Sedona is unaccredited but it has legal status.

You would need to open a church first in Florida and the make it a Religious based name so you can legally grant it. Call it PhD in Consciousness Education or Educational Technology for Church Administration or PhD in Educational Metaphysical Hypnosis other creative name that can pass the law.

A PhD in Education that is not legally granted can be illegal in some states but if legal, this might used in a resume with no problem.

This doesn't fit the question asked, since a dissertation IS required. However, today I came across a distance Ed.D requiring 45 credits and costing $422.75 per credit (tuition + fees included in that figure). https://www.marshall.edu/lsedd/

Given the relatively low number of required credits and the impressively low tuition, the barriers to completion are far more scalable than average. One can spend some of that extra energy and time buckling down and actually getting the dissertation done.
