It was a sad day for all Americans. This shouldn't have happened but there are questions.
Are you sure no Antifa instigators infiltrated the rioters?
Also read the other tread with videos.

The Republican President is on tape egging this crowd on. Rudy was calling for the "trial by combat". I mean, MAYBE they're deep cover Antifa, but that would be a bit of a stretch don't you think?

And it was the Left who occupied an American city without being called domestic terrorists.

This past year has been full of insanity, the sort of insanity that must stop on all sides.

Marxism is a far bigger threat.

There might have been a few antifa folks? Who knows, I'd guess that if there were then there were probably some skinhead types breaking windows in the BLM protests. The difference between the two?

Large amounts of rioters entered the Capital with the expressed purpose of disrupting the democracy in our country. They did this because they thought it was what our President and Rudy Giuliani had just asked them to do it. A few antifa folks couldn't have made them do that. A few skinhead types could easily break store windows and set stores on fire during a BLM protest. And at least one I know of was arrested for that in New York.

The 25th Amendment rumors are swirling with ever greater force. If Cabinet resignations continue at the current pace, there might not be anyone to sign on with Pence though. The rats are leaving the ship in ever growing numbers. It's like some sort of dystopian novella. 12 days and counting.

In fairness, a person I know from grade school has been telling me all about the Qanon theories and such, explaining why they're true, explaining how the chosen few in the groups are reading the notes from Q and interpreting them as "go fight" or "go riot," and so forth

I'm not saying Trump is innocent, the guy has certainly thrown fuel on the fire, but these people think that Trump tweeting the Stop The Steal hashtag is a call to armed rebellion or something. It's really strange, not something started by the POTUS or his staff as far as I can tell.

No need for any removal etc.

Well it probably won't happen anyway. The proper avenue is impeachment for which there's not enough time or support.

Qanon borrowed some of its original nonsense from the old Hilary Clinton is a pedophile conspiracy theory. Sometimes called Pizzagate because the basement of a Washington Pizzeria is where they were keeping the kids. Some guy drove there and shot up the place to save the kids only to find out that there was no basement, no kids, and probably never visited by Hillary.

Here's an excellent very detailed article on the topic.

I would find it very amusing from a historical perspective if Trump was impeached twice, though. It would also give the Lerner's of the world a fun example to point to and say how unfairly the poor poor man was treated. So it would be a win win! :p

Looks increasingly likely that Pelosi will schedule a swift vote on Articles of Impeachment. It's hard to see how she doesn’t. If the House passes them, McConnell will have to decide whether to schedule a trial or run out the clock.

McConnell really, really does not want this vote.

Ok. So. About this QAnon thing. It's a little funny, but I really don't know anything about them despite the fact that I've heard them being mentioned hundreds of times in the last few months. I just haven't felt like figuring out what all that stuff is.

My only familiarity with it is from passing references. Everyone talks about them, but usually only to insult them. I have a vague association in my mind that these might have been the pizzagate people, or closely related to them. Also, something something something Trump.

Is this an organized group? Do they have their own set of media outlets like InfoWars? Are they secretive like Anonymous? Or are they more of an amorphous identity like Juggalos?

The problem is that although the charges would arise from the President's deliberate instigation and encouragement of a violent attack on the Capitol during the joint session, an offense far beyond politics, everything in America is political. The choice for GOP Senators would be to support American constutional democracy or pander to the increasingly violent and fascistic die hard Trump Base. Counting the Electoral Vote was bad enough that way. This would be infinitely worse. Pelosi knows this. For her, voting to impeach is a win win just as it's a lose lose for McConnell.

The impeachment for the phone call with Ukrainian president was wrong and one sided partizan abuse. Senate vote rightly to acquit and has noting to do with what happened on 1/6/2021.
I think the left media and the abuse of the President Trump for 4 + years are partly to blame for what happened on 01/06/2021.

12 days left. Tick tick tick. Some Democrats are saying that a vote to impeach will reach the House floor by Wednesday.

I never heard of QAnon until Bill and others started using the term here in the discussion board even if it seems like I posted some of their broadcasts.
I think its an umbrella name to multiple groups. I think Newsmax and Fox are the more dominant news sources for these groups.
Info-wars I know noting about, I did hear about Alex Johns in the past and banning of his show on tube, this was on other news outlets.

I don't know how it works but can Senate take their time? Are they required to act immediately? Responding with statement that this is unnecessary due to transition of power in motion.
Some suggest resignation may be a way to handle this?

No, they aren't. The Senate could "take a knee" but even that action, or inaction, will be seen as a decision in a political context.
