University of London's Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law online program is available £2,000 GBP!

You can finish this program in only 1 year! And you'll get something to add on your resume. [IMG]

I think this is the cheapest online graduate diploma program from a known distance-learning school.

Check University of London Distance Learning program's history:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_London_Worldwide

So this can be something you can grab after you finish your big 3 degree.

Anyone with a Bachelor's degree can get into this program.

To be eligible for this Graduate Diploma you must have one of the following:

    • an acceptable Bachelor’s or Associate degree;

Right - it costs less than a Big 3 degree, too! :)

Saw that! Can you imagine the effect of a U. London Grad diploma in Commercial Law on top of a DEAC career-school U.S. Associates in Paralegal Studies? That'd start them talking! :)

What's the cheapest online Associate in Paralegal Studies????

You just need to finish their four online modules to get this diploma:

I think it's possible to take four of their modules within one semester.

Lowest I know is Penn Foster. About 1500 per semester (x4) give or take. I think you can transfer in gen.ed etc. Details here: https://www.pennfoster.edu/programs-and-degrees/legal-services/paralegal-studies-associate-degree/tuition

General price at Penn Foster for this is ~79 per credit. I imagine with a bit of transfer credit (not that much) you could do this for $5K or less. Still more expensive than the London diploma, but having both would be super-impressive (for an entry-level paralegal job). Probably overkill - like showing up with a Rolls-Royce and a Brioni suit. They might think you were a disbarred lawyer! "Hey - do I even look like Michael Cohen? :) " (Plus - the diploma is in British law.) Wow factor, anyway!

UoL is the best in terms of pricing. And their distance learning alumni include 7 Nobel prize winners!

    Nobel laureates
At least seven Nobel Prizes have been awarded to alumni of the University of London distance learning students in external mode:

I wonder what the curriculum is actually like. As far as receiving marks, they just say its a 3.25 hour unseen examination per course, presumably written, but I'm not familiar with how UoL actually holds them or handles them.

I'm in awe of you guys who go the "Johnny Mnemonic" route - getting compressed data injected in your left ear. No lightspeed-running for me. When I went back to school I took no more than two courses at the same time. Took a long while - but I had time - and I (usually) enjoyed it - plus I was able that way to get really good marks. I was in my 40s / 50s and much-younger students sometimes hated me, over marks. I really enjoyed that. :) And if I PAY for some danged thing, I like to enjoy it. Silly me, I guess.

    Two considerations:

    (1) Their exam schedule might very well not permit you to do that. I'm not sure.
    (2) U. of London courses (all of them) are reputed to be ones you have to do without help. You're incredibly on your own, I'm told. They tell you nothing. And EVERYTHING is on the exam. The exams, I've been told, are notoriously difficult. I think British schools compete with each other, to see which can set the most difficult exams. These courses are hard enough for most people at normal speed. Any speed in fact.

    But I know... you're a genius. Good luck with the speed-run. :)

I think the exam will require some writing???
    I'll ask them about it.

    Assessment
All modules for the Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law are assessed entirely by written examination. These are held in May/June and October at local examination centres around the world. You can sit a maximum of two modules in the October session.

Our examinations are set and marked by academics appointed as examiners. They reflect the same standards as those who study on-campus at the University of London Law Schools.

YOU SCOOPED ME AGAIN, ON YOUR OWN QUESTION. WHY DO I BOTHER? :(

Anyway. You can only take 2 exams per - not 4. It's here :
'"All modules for the Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law are assessed entirely by written examination. These are held in May/June and October at local examination centres around the world. You can sit a maximum of two modules in the October session."

Yep. Maximum 2 per session (i.e. semester). 100% WRITTEN. 3 hrs 15 minutes. At local exam centres around the world. Not online. Bring something for writer's cramp. Bye now.

2 exams per session... I think they have 2+ sessions every year. So you'll be able to finish the program within a year I believe.

Me too. Between having to actually write and the very limited schedule, I'd rather pass

FWIW, they have a GREAT Master of Laws program (various disciplines, international (includes US), etc. Won't qualify for the BAR in the US but if that is a show stopper... I seriously considered it decided the commitment was greater than my interest.

    I’ll chime in.

I took UoL PG Computer Law through Queen Mary Uni London in 2012-2013 back when the fee was around £1.2K ish per semester. I abandoned it not because it wasn’t good. It was good, but I had to abandon it to focus on my onsite PhD.

I’ve done my PhD Education and right after I went back to redo my UoL Law. Found out the fee almost tripled. So I decided to look for something else.

I enrolled in Northumbria University (Northumbria Law School) for their distance learning PG Data Protection Law for around £2.3K the full course and graduated just this year. I was offered to continue to LLM with my 20% alumni discount, but decided to take a year off from Law. I’m now doing a few nanodegrees and an MTech Big Data. Ive also enrolled for execMBA for 2022. So I’m not sure if I would ever go back to LLM.

But yeah, posting here to say that I’ve done a PG Cert Law with Northumbria via distance for £2.3K. And I thoroughly enjoyed it, the use of Blackboard Learn, the assist from the lecturers, and the comments from TurnItIn.

I’m hoping to get back into Law in the future for LLM. Maybe I’ll use my alumni discount afterall.
