Would either of you have gone there if it weren't for this community? Lives get changed here!

You are correct Sir! I have been following the community for awhile. It actually pushed me toward Excelsior Colleges MPA program after playing with transfer credits from my two brick and mortar Master Degree programs I was able to transfer 21 credits and only had to complete 9 credits for a third masters degree.

After seeing this posted up I said why not the price is right and its in the healthcare field which is going to need more employees. I appreciate the person who found this program. I am totally fine with a Nationally accredited Doctorate degree from a HBCU that's been around for 140 years. The federal government and the military both accept nationally accredited degrees as well as some private industry companies.

Thanks to this community, my wife was able to get her Excelsior degree and a CPA. In addition, I helped 3 close friends to get their DL degrees (TESC, Ashworth, and COSC), and even changed things at the Ontario College of ECEs (not for the better I'm afraid). So, you betcha, lives got changed here.

    P. S. The board also motivated me to get a CSUDH graduate certificate and London Master's (still technically not conferred... need to ask what's up with that). I'm not sure these had much of an effect on my career though.

I would have probably stayed with Trident as I was seriously considering a switch to their DHA program anyways however wasn't too inspired with additional courses and extra cost. So yes thankful for the tip and just wished this program had started last year instead.

Interesting....I might take a look at this as well. How much time did the Internship take up?

That was years ago, but I don't believe it was too onerous. Just observed some programming classes and helped some students do lab exercises. I already volunteered at the Tallahassee CC as a math tutor, so they were willing to help out.

Cohort slots are filling up. Make sure you apply and they have all your documents if you are planning on going for the Spring 2021 cohort. Don't wait for the last minute because people are already getting full acceptance letters.

For those applying for January 2021 (spring cohort) please have all your documents sent out already which include your transcripts. Don't wait till the last minute due to the number of admissions spaces they have. I was told a cohort can be up to 30. People have already began to get their admissions letters (including myself). Please make sure after you get the admissions email or letter that you complete financial aid FASFA application. You also want to complete your Loan Counseling which includes Entrance Counseling and Signing your Loan Agreement (MPN) for Subsidized & Unsubsidized loans. This is a new program so if you want a seat in the January class get on top of the things you need to complete to speed your process up. It seems like the VUL DHA program has picked up popularity online through a number of forums and discussion boards. If you have any questions reach out to the admissions office or financial aid office if you have already been accepted. I was told if you are paying cash / check/ credit card payments are due two weeks before classes begin.

I've read most but not all of this thread. For those of you attending, what are your career goals post-degree? I wonder if the lack of thesis combined with the length will make it harder to "use" the degree.

I was planning on using my degree to try to get into one of the military medical branches as a healthcare administrator in the reserves. I also looked into the possibility of transferring some credits over to Liberty University because they accept TRACS credits so I wanted to see if I can transfer over some credits to another doctorate program since they are regionally accredited. For the price of 15k you can't go wrong. Maybe in the future I can land a decent healthcare job. I currently work in the law field.

My goals are centered around self-fulliment most so on career as I'm hoping to be semi-retired in the next 10+ years. When I do retire I would like a part-time leadership role working for a non-profit organization. Also teaching at a community College or online is something I would not mind doing either. I wouldn't mind either looking for a senior director roles in my current organization if its the right opportunity. However I'm realistic in understanding that this doctorate doesn't guarantee any sort jump in salary or position.

It really depends on what your salary or position you are looking for. With the correct experience in the field I'm sure it will do something. Its a new program so we are testing the waters to see what this may or may not do for some people. Like I've mentioned before the military and federal government accept TRACS / Nationally Accredited degrees. One problem I was seeing in the Facebook group chat is people want to use the degree toward teaching which might pose as a challenge in finding employment in the education field with a Nationally Accredited degree as most colleges require a Regionally Accredited degree. In addition to that they also require an actual doctorate rather then a terminal doctorate. I think its a great program and I am going forward with it but in the future might explore other options. For the price of 15k can't go wrong.

Don't sell yourself short. A doctorate is a doctorate. I wish it had a thesis but still, a research doctorate and a practice doctorate can both be "real."

Say what? As far as I know, all doctorates are terminal degrees.

my apologies the word terminal was meant to be professional degrees.
"When a degree is considered terminal, it means that it is the highest degree awarded in a given field. In most fields, the terminal-level degree is the doctor of philosophy, or PhD, but in some fields, it's a professional degree, such as a doctor of medicine or law degree."

I am not selling myself short I am so far very happy with the program. From what I heard from one of my professors they are in the process of getting regionally accredited by SACSCOC. Only time will tell if that happens and I agree a doctorate is a doctorate even if its a research doctorate, professional, or practice doctorate.

Also don't forget there is a practicum that is devoted to teaching in higher education which may have help to attract many to this program. Again its not unrealistic to think you'll be in a better position to teach at Community College after earning this degree.
