A friend got this solicitation in his email.

“Avrio Sarl” which is known as “Institut Avrio de Genève”
Another private institute on the canton that is partnered with UK training providers.

https://www.avrio.ch/discover/about/ Their own diplomas are unaccredited.

I think its much cheaper just to study directly with one of their partners in the UK.

Right - just another cantonal school, which can legally award degrees of low or no standing. And yes - a British degree is fine - but as Lerner says - why pay extra?

Their main British partner seems to be Anglia Ruskin University, which I've observed, makes a few of this type of partnership. Anglia Ruskin is a newer school, founded in the 1990s which faced very severe financial difficulties in its earlier days. It changed to its present name in 2002. Part of their survival plan seems to include frequent partnership schemes of this sort with Universities outside UK.

Many of the degrees - including Doctorates - are awarded by Avrio itself. I don't think those degrees are a good prospect for a foreign credential evaluation.

    (1) . They want your address and email before giving away any "secrets."
    (2) They don't tell you anything about courses from their Language Institute - the only thing they have that interests me at all. You have to give them contact details first.
    (3) As Lerner says - they have a cantonal license. Their own degrees have zero institutional accreditation or equivalent.

I feel like telling them off in three or four languages at least. Yeah, I think I could manage that OK. Stay in your canton, Avrio. No 10K Euro for you. Not from me.

Correction: Anglia Ruskin University changed to its present name in 2005, not 2002 as I wrote earlier.

Confirmed. You get an Ofqual accredited Level 5 / Level 6 Diploma (of which consists most of their coursework they offer) for a fraction of the price listed directly in UK.
However, the trick to rename a Level 6 Diploma an "Executive Bachelor" is new to me. Nice one.

I'm going to just start referring to individual graduate courses as a CentiMasters. Finish your CentiMasters in as little as 10 weeks. $5,000

Centi - prefix for one hundredth. If you had to do 100 of them at $5K apiece, that would be a pretty expensive Master's - $500,000. Even ten or twelve of them, at 3 credits each, which might conceivably be required - that's $50-60K. It better be good! :)

DeciMasters, though, that works... he's on to something!

Yeah - and you get certs all over the place as you work your way through the courses. Hey -- isn't that kind of like WGU? :)

Maybe because it is easier and less streeful to obtain the British degree at this Swiss for-profit organisation?
No clue whether that´s is true however, I don´t habe any personal experience about this kind of "awarding partner" agreements.

I don't think it's supposed to be true. I THINK you're supposed to learn the same material and pass the same exams as students at the British school. But I don't actually know that it ALWAYS happens that way; I certainly don't know it to be true (or untrue) in all cases. I keep remembering the University of Wales consortium debacle. They awarded U. of Wales degrees for about 200 overseas programs, with insufficient oversight and it came back to bite them. VERY hard!

And I have known of some "dual programs" to suddenly disappear because the "Awarding Partner" University thought better of continuing the deal. That's not much fun for a student in the middle of one of these dual / triple thingies.

    Good point, Johann766.

    Their "OfQual" qualifications(Level 5/6) cost € 6,990. There are many UK-based providers that gladly offer the same for about € 800 - € 1,200 .

That's a horrendous difference! And of course, they're not clearly stating the difference between these "diplomas" and standard degrees, regardless of "executive bachelor " label.

The dual award degrees with Azteca - I wouldn't want one. I have no idea how many co-validation programs Azteca has - but it's WAY too many for my comfort. I believe Azteca offers many "propio" degrees also - legal, but no official approval. Legal and with not too bad mileage in their own country - probably not necessarily as much elsewhere.

Anglia Ruskin is "awarding partner" to a whole lot of non-UK schools - like this one, that don't look to be of A.R.'s own calibre. That makes me uncomfortable. The co-validated A.R. degrees are $12K Euros. Try going direct -dealer may sell for less.

Yeah, I was right. Azteca accepts prior learning for propios too. From their site:

The prior learning assessment grado propio programmes of Universidad Azteca are ideal for qualified professionals earning a university degree based on their qualifications, licenses, skills and experience and who do not need an accredited or recognised degree rather than a university own degree awarded by a recognised university to demonstrate their individual level of education in a given area or field of expertise. A grado propio or university own degree reflects that the graduate has earned a degree at postsecondary education level awarded by an officially recognised university.

So, you sign up with Avrio, you might be on your way to a 12,000 Euro Azteca propio! Buena suerte con esto. (Good luck with that.)

I sent away for some information from these guys 2 weeks ago. Never heard back. Like Johann, I was mostly interested in the language school. I thought I would at least get an automated email when I put in my info, but nothing. When I click "Enroll now", the dropdowns only include the academic programs, not the language school. Makes me wonder if they don't actually have a program on offer.
