I deliberately chose my home based on the commute to work after getting what I hoped would become, and has turned out to be, my last job. My commute of 12 miles takes 15 minutes, I see two stop signs, no lights.

Last job? Might be the last car you'll need, too. A commute like that - it could last forever. All kinds of hassle-free benefits.... Good for you! :)

Boston was awful 40 years ago when I lived there. The Chelmsford rotary was so bad people had bumper stickers bragging about surviving it.

I lived in the Washington DC area for 20 years (until a couple of years ago). There were times of the day when you just could NOT get in your car and go in certain directions. It was futile and pointless.
