Job opportunity (urgent)

Steve L. cares about students not getting a raw deal and the public not being misled. He has unique domain knowledge in several areas of nontraditional higher ed – and knowledge of how things were organized and done in earlier eras is valuable to discussions and decision-making today. He’s candid about his opinions perhaps to a fault.

A related fault is that a style he developed fighting unaccredited Bible college operators and Usenet marketers in the 1990s can be misplaced answering a new webboard poster in, wow, the 2020s now asking about something like an accredited degree in leadership. Or his fellow longtime poster engaging that new poster's questions.

The outcome I hope for is that he contributes.

 

So? Hit back. The dude is more insecure than ever before. Remind him that you have one doctorate more than him, along with an actual career in the actual field. There's nothing wrong with trucking, but he is attacking others on their choices - his own are wide open for attack on his own silly terms.

Point is, Levicoff provides both content and color, and neither is in too generous a supply on this forum anymore. How many old timers this board have left - on a good day, what, between one and zero? He can't be allowed to scare away newbies unchallenged, but there IS value in having him around.

Actually, for the most part, I thought Steve L. was mellowing a bit in the last few months... just prior to his departure.

 

I began to learn to what Steve was trying to do, and he made me laugh a number of times. My concern (which I expressed to him once) was with how he was getting his message across. A milder example of his method can be seen here:

I think the very fact that it's easy to just stumble into a post where Steve is on the offensive without cause says a lot about how far this all went and for how long it went on.

You've got to admit, this is a well-crafted rant. Random, misguided, even unhinged, yes - but misguided. Got the thread (which really only deserved one reply, "nah, it's fine") so much more entertaining.

NP. I'm what they call a "lawful nonimmigrant alien" LOL; have two citizenships, neither currently American, and two native languages (neither English). Hierophant still tries to use this when I start talking politics.

Yea, right! I'm going to lose sleep over this. My salary and contract compensations will stop hitting my bank account. Wow! My bank accounts are being "ignored." Oh, wait. None of that will happen.
