Yes, it seems you're right. But other than actually going through some degree equivalency process in a formal way I'm not sure that anyone can tell you beforehand what the result might be. We don't exactly have a lot of experience with this particular school.

Not necessarily. As you may have read, the other day I called out a long-term DI member who received a dissertation-only Ph.D. from UCN, and at least one of his master's is from Adam Smith University, a degree mill. Coincidentally, his latest inquiry was about a school in Spain claiming that its credentials are "certified" by Universidad Isabel.

    Coincidence? :D

Yep. You have been saying that for a long time:
Steve Levicoff referred to Adam Smith University as a degree mill, and he noted that it operated in Louisiana due to the absence of laws regulating the granting of degrees.[16] Adam Smith University and Columbia State University have the same address, which is "likely a mail forwarding address". Steve Levicoff. Name It and Frame It?. (3rd edition) Institute on Religion and Law. 1993 (page 111 and 119) ASIN B0006F1PCQ

It looks like one of those schools that moves around the globe.

Interestingly enough, I visited UCN's European Programmes Postgraduate School's website at http://businessschooldirect.info/degree_programmes/european_dual_doctorate. They are now offering a verified/accredited professional doctorate degrees in partnership with Collegium Humanum - Warsaw Management University. So if you get the PhDr, you will also be rewarded a professional doctorate equivalent from UCN.

    That is indeed interesting.
In Germany the European Programmes Postgraduate school which awards the UCN degrees in distant learning is not recognised by the state.
That's probably the reason why they try to connect with Programmes that are state-recognised im Germany.....since the school is in Austria they are surely interested in the German Market too.

I just want to let everyone know that my attitude toward the school has changed. I've also made this clear on the sister board where I post as 'openair.'

A few things have appeared that make me hesitant to affirm all their activities as legit.

Number one: I've read various reports in Polish media about the rector of the school and the controversies surrounding his own doctorate (i.e. serious plagiarism reports). This is not the kind of a person who should be running a higher education institution.

Number two: I've looked at several DBA awards granted by Collegium Humanum with the word 'degree' attached to them. This is very misleading, as they can only grant Certificates of Completion of Postgraduate Studies in Poland. They don't have any doctorate degree-granting rights and still grant the DBA as a degree with their non-accredited partners.

That being said, I am not casting doubt on the Bachelor's and Master's degrees awarded to students. They retain these specific rights until the Polish Accreditation Commitee finds fault with these programs.

Well that is a bit sketchy. You see the Azteca info and look at the school and think, "a Polish University with a cool name what could go wrong" and miss the fine print. It is seeming like some smoke and mirrors. And then Azteca itself only grants the EdD under their accreditation but their "international branch" issues a bunch of "own/proprio" PhDs.

So if I am understanding you correctly, someone could end up with a DBA from the Polish School (that isn't authorized to grant DBA degrees) and a PhD from another school that grants those under their own authority since it is not part of their accreditation. And be out 10,000 dollars or so and whatever work you put in. As Click and Clack used to say, HAT TRICK!

Indeed. As you say, smoke and mirrors. I've sometimes thought Azteca might do well to rename itself "Tezcatlipoca University." Tezcatlipoca is an Aztec god whose name means "Smoking Mirror" In Nahuatl. He is the god of the Great Bear Constellation and the night sky. :)

    There's a page about him here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tezcatlipoca

In case anyone didn't get the Click and Clack reference, it was a nick name for a couple of interesting gentlemen on the NPR show (Car Talk) that they hosted out of Boston. Both Magliozzi brothers graduated from MIT and Tom went on to earn a PhD from Boston University and became a professor. He decided he didn't like being a professor much and went to work with his brother in their auto shop. They ended up doing an NPR call in car show where they diagnosed issues and ran a weekly puzzler. They were hilariously funny (played off of one another). Tom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and died shortly after. NPR did run reruns of the show for a while.

Tom's brother made the announcement on the radio of the diagnosis and his decision to close the show. He joked/seriously said his brother told him he couldn't remember the previous week's puzzler and it turns out he couldn't.
