Passing on: I am an Associate Dean at Rush University and while we deal with being away from campus, we are searching for someone with an expertise in Epidemiology and Biostatistics to teach graduate-level Epidemiology and Biostatistics I, respectively. We will pay 3K to build the course and 3K for someone to teach it. I know it is short notice, but our semester starts May 11 and we have a dedicated rock star instructional designer that will do lots of the heavy lifting to get your content in an online format. If you are interested, please reach out at [email protected] and let me know.

I'm no expert, but I'd if you have expertise in epidemiology you might be otherwise engaged just this second.

I didn't realize this board accepted advertising in its threads. Good to know.

Yeah Chris, why are you throwing up ads on this site? Rush University? Really? You on the payroll?

I didn't realize this board automatically links the word advertising to an advertisement. ;)

Rush is in a rush to fill this position. Why shouldn't I be rushing over to DI where there is a diverse educational and professional background of people?

    Btw, excuse the rush!

I can respect the urgency on Rush's part (I'm not doing it, nope). Aside from the fact that this came from a well established member on this board, I think it's interesting that this is one of the few ads we've seen here that isn't from the same old script. Not asking for faculty to work for free. Not for a sketchy fly by night school. Not for a discipline with ambiguous requirements. A well established school is looking for an actual expert to create real coursework and is paying for the service.

I'm sure this is happening all over even as some universities are imposing hiring freezes and the like. But as our primary exposure to academia is the side we see through this board, and our own personal experiences, I feel like it was at least a bit refreshing to see, no?

Now if Chris logs on tomorrow stumping for UPhoenix I'll call shenanigans.

I just read the TOS and didn't see anything in it about advertising.

    "....for commercial or individual gain."

That's the kicker. Was it for one of these two purposes? If not, it's information, not advertising. At least, that's how I read it.

Thank you, Rich. I am neither a shareholder, trustee member, employee nor a contractor of Rush. Hence, my post does not fit the script.

Interesting. If you click on the link to "Terms and Rules" in the lower right hand side of the screen, there's nothing there about advertising.

I also found this interesting: "You are granting us with a non-exclusive, permanent, irrevocable, unlimited license to use, publish, or re-publish your Content in connection with the Service. You retain copyright over the Content."

I'm not an attorney, nor do I play one on TV, but isn't this contradictory? If I retain the copyright over the content, don't I have a right to request that it be deleted? I understand that DI currently doesn't allow the deletion of any content.

I fail to see how it's contradictory.

You own the copyright to whatever you write here.

DI has license to use the information. Holding the copyright and granting a license to use the information are two different things.

If you create a YouTube video about me and want to have I'm Too Sexy playing in it because, well, I am, assuming you pay the appropriate license fee you have license to use that song in your video. That does not change whomever holds the copyright to that song.

DI isn't paying us a fee for rights to our original content. We get the pleasure of coming here and interacting with other likeminded weirdos. Everyone wins.

As for having a right to delete your content? No. Once you license your content to someone or some entity, they can use it in accordance with that license. See Williams v No Takesis Backsies

I simply see a post in which a well-established member provided information. However, if I did have issue with it, I would most likely ignore it and go on about my day. :)
