If your final course ended prior to March 2, 2020, Trident University International will be on your diploma and transcripts.

Is there any reason to believe there's a difference?

Other than AIU having a really silly-sounding name, I would say no.

Before the buyout or meger... Trident could not enroll student from NY, Minn, Oregon, Georgia & Mass.... Since the merger this week here the updated disclosure: TRIDENT DOES NOT DO BUSINESS IN MASSACHUSETTS, NEW YORK, GEORGIA OR THE EUROPEAN UNION AND DOES NOT ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM RESIDENTS OF THESE JURISDICTIONS SEEKING TO ENROLL AT THE UNIVERSITY.

So they have added back Minnesota and Oregon residents.

    Trident has company:

Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security - National American University (formerly Henley-Putnam University)

Urbana University, a Branch Campus of Franklin University (formerly Urbana University)

There is a differace between the two deals.. For Profit model & Not For Profit model

    FOR Profit:

Regarding Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security - National American University (formerly Henley-Putnam University) I have found that National American University is facing major financial challenges, and the company has laid off numerous workers, amounting to a $1.5 million cut in yearly payroll costs. On January 22, 2019, NAUH announced that "the Company had $0.5 million of unrestricted cash and cash equivalents and a working capital deficiency of $8.7 million. These factors, among others, raise substantial doubt regarding the Company’s ability to continue as a going concern." On March 16, 2019, National American University announced that most of its 24 ground campuses would be closed, except for Ellsworth Air Force Base and King's Bay Naval Submarine Base. On May 10, 2019, NAUH received an $8.5 million loan from the Center for Excellence in Higher Education. The loan was set at a 7 percent interest rate with a $250,000 origination fee. On May 24, 2019, Insider Higher Edition reported that students at National American University had been surprised that campuses were closing.

Nonprofit (Brick & Mortor with College Athletics)

    About Franklin
Franklin University has a history of serving adult students that spans more than a hundred years. It was founded in 1902 at the Columbus YMCA, under its sponsorship as the YMCA School of Commerce. It would change its name to Franklin University in 1933, and would amicably discontinue its formal affiliation with the YMCA in 1964.

    About Urbana:
Founded in 1850, Urbana serves more than 1,100 students from around the world from its campus nestled in the historic city of Urbana, Ohio. Known for innovative academic programs that feature personal attention from faculty, the branch campus offers career-focused programs on-site, online, or a combination of both. Blue Knights athletics includes 17 NCAA Division II sports along with intercollegiate bowling, cheerleading and shooting sports.

    About the Deal
Franklin University, a private, nonprofit institution, founded in 1902 in Columbus, Ohio, has received approval for its change of status application by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to bring Urbana University under Franklin’s accreditation as a “branch campus,” effective August 1, 2017.

Franklin acquired Urbana University’s assets in April 2014 to assure Urbana’s ability to continue to serve students effectively. Working together, Franklin and Urbana’s executive leadership have spent the past three years identifying strategies to position Urbana University for short and long-term success.

Investing more than $15 million, Franklin University has provided funding for scholarships as well as a number of improvements to the Urbana campus. Infrastructure improvements have included upgrades to science labs, upgraded security features, resurfacing of the all parking lots, installation of new sidewalks and new stadium turf, as well as upgrades to Grimes Hall. In addition, the University is currently in the process of refreshing the dining commons and installing stadium lights.

Through today’s announcement, Franklin and Urbana further solidify the foundational support needed to continue efforts to better serve Urbana’s students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Under the leadership of Dr. Christopher Washington, Urbana University will continue on its path toward revitalization by assessing organizational needs, and service configurations that leverage the shift to branch campus status, while maintaining a strong focus on Urbana’s unique brand in its own market.

The Franklin/Urbana deal is not about $$$ it is about "What is best for students" Probably the model that the FOR PROFITS should try to copy, but when you are for profit "Whats Best For Students" is not the top priority.

I would be skeptical of this merger as the Career Education Corporation (in January 2020, the company changed its name to Perdoceo Education Corporation) has a history of purchasing For Profits in trouble and then closing them.
    For Example:
Also with 95% of Career Education Corporation's funds (or Perdoceo Education Corp) come from enrolling students whose tuition is paid for by programs sponsored by the US federal government, with about $67 million annually coming from the US Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs. This amount is in excess of the federal 90-10-rule that states for-profit colleges can get no more than 90% of their revenue from federal funds, or they risk losing the privilege of accessing federal funding. With Trident being over the 90-10-rule and about to lose WASC (due to being caught by WASC predatory recruiting of surviors and being told they were going to lose WASC) I am not sure how this works moving forward. Maybe Trident will not close or be swallowed by AIU and will be used to ernroll known DOD/VA students, but my money is that AIU just purchased and strengthened there Online Program for 40 Million and in two years swallows TUI up all together... This Trident at AIU is probably for the sale, to keep the TUI Board happy and thin in 12-24 months TUI will be long gone...IMHO

Even the little kids in London know the DIFFERENCE between for-profit and non-profit organizations. My point was that these schools maintained their names although they were absorbed into other institutions. I've deliberately avoided your rant about Trident all this while and will continue to do so. I honestly did not read past your first sentence, which I have quoted.

But do they realize the difference between the schools that you mentioned that maintained their names although they were absorbed into other institutions? That is my point, there is a difference between the schools you mentioned. Thank you for being graceful with my spelling error.

No, of course they don't. But apparently it's your mission in life to educate them about it all.

Well I now have about less than 2 years to go have Trident on my diploma :) I agree the name change is silly but still no real regrets about my decision. I think I will still use Trident University for now on my resume as nobody really looks anyway.

Question, I noticed you've gone to Columbia Southern University which is Nationally Accredited. I recently found out that they purchased Waldorf College or something along those lines. Anyways, how did you like it there? And how are you liking Trident? How much did it cost you for the MBA and what's the projected cost of your DBA?

I've got my eyes set on a few competency based masters degree, but still looking at a DBA, currently the front runner is California Southern University as it has ACBSP. Time will tell for me where I will get the DBA...

It was a garden variety anti-profit rant. But at least it was a comment about something other than Trident, so there's that.

Columbia Southern was okay and yes its more competency based and little to none real interaction with professors outside of the required discussion forum assignment posts. Since I had already had a Masters in Health Informatics (with a healthcare management focus) CSU let me transfer half of my credits so it cost me less than $6K (which I got my company to reimburse). However if I had to do it over I would have chosen LSU Shreveport as they no longer have prerequisites now for those without a business degree and cost is around $13K (plus its AACSB and has the LSU name). Just finishing my second course at Trident and so far its a bit of better experience to CSU. I did get a chance to talk with faculty prior to enrolling and there have been sessions with faculty to discuss the doctoral study process. I'm more interested in self fulfillment and a low cost program. Trident has granted me a waiver for 3 courses which was a big factor in my decision. Otherwise I would have looked at others. I did briefly look at California Southern. It will be interesting to see if Trident will get ACSBP as well since AIU that accreditation. Yes AIU wanted Trident for the large Military and VA student population, but Trident has a robust set of doctoral programs.

Looks like Trident at AIU will have 60 days to take corrective action.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), acting within its required approval authority under the law limiting certain advertising, sales, and enrollment practices, notified the University of Phoenix, Career Education Corporation (Colorado Technical University, American InterContinental University), Bellevue University and Temple University, March 9, of the agency’s intent to disapprove the enrollment of new GI Bill students at these institutions.
