I don't really like Bloomberg myself. However, one of the more moderate candidates should probably do better against Trump? Assuming that were true (I know it's an iffy assertion) then Bloomberg might not be the worse choice, at least in my desperate view. Heck Clint Eastwood said he'd vote for Bloomberg over Trump and so that is at least one extra vote he'd get. :)

Vote Blue No Matter Who, certainly. But you got to admit that Bloomberg is basically a Republican, with far more baggage than Romney had, and an avatar for big money in politics. He risks losing some core Democratic voters, and not just among the Berniecrats - who can say what is riskier? In fact, I feel pretty strongly that Bloomberg would lose to Trump. I think Biden, Klobuchar, Mayor Pete, or even Sanders have more of a fighting chance.

Watching the debate, I do not see any good reason why Warren doesn't poll better. Not one. I actually predicted that she would not be a nominee right after she announced, but not for a good reason - I felt she's in a way too good a candidate, especially as a woman. She's basically Bernie with better skills across the board, yet he polls 3x her numbers.

It is plausible that Biden would gain momentum in SC and manage to not lose too badly on Super Tuesday to stay viable. Otherwise, Bernie is a nominee. He's the guy I like the least among major Democrats. Dammit.

When George Takei coined that slogan, I wonder whether he'd have included FDR.

Here's my theory why our excellent female candidates have not done as well as I'd hoped. The voters have the overall and single minded idea that we must nominate someone that has the best chance of beating Trump. In 2016 Trump beat a woman. This has made many people concerned about voting for a woman, at least that's my theory.

Do you think his campaign is still viable with the accumulative issues it’s run into?

I don't see him winning the nomination. He's effectively a spoiler trying to throw the race to Bernie.

    And everyone loses.

That may really be the most reasonably achievable plan for education reform.

Yes. The man has money for good consultants. Not a good argument for throwing the contest to Bernie though.

So Pete Buttigieg is out. Good news for whom?

Biden. Hope it'll make a difference.

I'm wondering if Biden and the DNC gave him the VP slot on Biden's ticket, to help solidify the moderates towards Biden.

I might be wrong, but I don't see Pete as an optipal VP pick, in terms of bringing votes in November. I'd rather see him in the Cabinet.

I would agree. Normally there will be a strong inclination to have a VP who draws a different cross-section of the party. However, in this case, there's a strategic advantage to consolidate the moderates/establishment in an effort to mitigate Sanders running away, particularly since it's more than apparent that Biden can not do it himself. It seems they have already started joining their campaigns.

I agree that there's probably minimal strategic advantage in going with Buttigieg, especially when Klobuchar is also a Midwesterner and also offers the potential electoral benefit of sitting down to pee.

It doesn't look like it will change the primary race significantly. His support seems to split evenly among the others when pollsters ask what their second choice is.
