Hy everyone, I'm a 17 years old students from italy and I'm attending my penultimate year in an Italian high school. First of all, sorry for my english I still have a lot to learn... Currently I'm watching some universities to plan my future and I recognize that is very difficoult to find the right university... I would like to study subjects like international business administration or global management or ba or something like these. I'm searching a university very job oriented, with possesses strong carrer services, in which I can have big networking opportunies, sadly I'm not enought good in school to enter in a tier 1 university like harvard or similar and contemporaneously I don't like italian university system although it could allow me to enter in some prestigious universities like Bocconi, then, I'm watching around the world and, sadly, I have noted that is really easy to fall in scam universities or in such a lot low level colleges (like hult buisness school ,as I understand) where are released degrees that do not allow people to work at the highest levels and in the best companies in the world.
So, just I have seen the International University of Monaco I have thinked that it could be the perfect university, small and exclusive, in Monaco that is a tax heaven where are concentred billions of euros. However, I have some doubts about the university:
-their degree will allow me to work all around the world, then is it accreditated?
-I've seen some discussion where are expressed conflicting opinions ( calcoulating that in 2012 the university was acquired in its entirety by the French educational group INSEEC, some reviews are older than 2012), :

At least, is IUM a valid university where to start a succesfull carreer in the world of management?
    Thanks so much!!!

While I don't know how their graduates fare, they're accredited by AACSB and AMBA, so they're internationally recognized. Especially given the change of ownership, I would pay attention to recent reviews and not old ones.

I took a couple of minutes and read through some of the discussions in the links you provided and there were a LOT of negative comments made about this school. Considering the fact that there are so many Business degree programs (at all levels) in the world, I'm wondering why you would seriously consider this school.

I think he's attracted to the idea of spending a lot of time building connections in Monaco, which isn't a terrible reason. But then he could just as well attend a university in London and make connections in the City, so I suppose it's not like that's a unique advantage.

Yes - IUM is fully owned by INSEEC. Last I looked, INSEEC in turn was owned by a US corporation - Career Education Corporation. At that time, these other schools were also owned by CEC:

    American InterContinental University
    Briarcliffe College
    Brooks Institute
Brown College (That's NOT Brown University, of course - J.)
    California Culinary Academy
    Collins College
    Colorado Technical University
    Harrington College of Design
International Academy of Design and Technology
    Le Cordon Bleu
    Missouri College
    Sanford-Brown

you're willing to pass on the chance to go to Bocconi

you'd rather go into a small and almost unheard of university to study (when there's so many other universities around the EU that have better branding and lower cost)

so you can enter the 'highest level' in the field of management?

    OKAAAAAY

    Sorry for the delay, and sorry again for my English;
first of all, I searched a lot but I have not found anything that said than INSEEC owner is US corporation - Career Education Corporation, and I don't know, maybe I'm wrong but that's what I know.
Currently, I'm looking for many universities (I'm really learning about hundreds of universities) and my thought is:
I can't apply for a top rank university or a top rank business school (in some universities I could with a foundation year), so, I should apply for a medium level business school (like skema business school, Hult international business school ...) where I can find good academics, good career services, good possibility... In Monaco I think that I could work in a different business world, there are thousands of students that every year graduate from a London, Paris... universities, and I think that is easier to be in the top of these businesses worlds is you have a degree from a top-ranked university, instead if I study in monaco probably I could get in touch with a business world and with companies, maybe less famous, but that exist only in Monaco ( Monaco has 5000 companies in 2 km of country) and, for example enter in a different (and so rich) business /financial world compared to the UK, USA... classical world.
I'm also so young so I could have the possibility ( in case the Monaco choice is wrong) to take after an MBA or a master in a classical and perhaps better european/american university.
In conclusion, I think that Monaco could be an advantage for me because it could (I hope) give me the access to an ecosystem ( https://www.linkedin.com/school/international-university-of-monaco/ as you can see most of the students after been graduated work in Monaco) that I would not have the possibility to meet if I will study in a business school located in a European / American capital city.
At least I found this: https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/international-university-of-monaco#section-alumni
where you can find some of the "successful students" (they are not too much but the university have only 500 students totally)
P.s: I don't like Bocconi like 99% per cent of Italian universities because it has an old teaching way, too theoretical and with 0 practice so fewer work competences.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi there!

I wish I could have seen this before, now I assume you made your decision about the international university of monaco.
anyway, i'm a former student and I hope to help someone here. making long story short I am very dissatisfied with my experience...as matter of fact most of my ex mates are.

    let's see the major issues;
    - most of teachers are there on temp basis, turnover is pretty high and you will rarely find a leading expert giving lectures. compared to the best known b-schools this is an issue as strong professionals can help students finding jobs.

    - jobs... career placement is the biggest problem for the international university of monaco, their career service is basically absent and it just throws at students vacancies which can be easily found on the internet. after school you are on your own. as you pointed out, Monaco has many companies but, if you are not fluent in French, forget working there. look at emploi monaco and linkedin, all job specs are in French, a requirement 90% of the times to work in Monaco.

one last consideration, if an MBA at a leading school costs 3 times what the international university of monaco asks, one may think that only gets what he pays for.

Current ownership of IUM: CEC Europe LLC & Investors S.C.S. IUM lists INSEEC as a partner.

Current ownership of INSEEC as far as I can tell: "2003 : INSEEC (a former family group) is taken over by the 1st American education group. Since 2013, its main shareholders are Apax Partners and BPI France." I see that Career Education Corp has downsized and no longer shows INSEEC in its portfolio. Mainly concentrates on Colorado Technical U. and American Intercontinental

Assume you’re ruling out Bocconi, IESE, and HEC? While Bocconi may have a unique pedagogy style, it and the two others can rival almost any business school in the world.
