It is getting worse. Republicans are becoming the party of white men even more so. Trump is the leader of the party and he seems to be focusing so much on racist themes over the past few weeks. Also non-white men Republicans seem to be retiring from congress. I'm not trying to say that Republican party members themselves are turning more racist. Although it may be possible that some non-racist types might be temporarily leaving the party?

Hurd announcement latest House GOP retirement to roll in
"Hurd, who's been an outspoken critic of Trump, is the sole black Republican in the chamber.

Two of the GOP retirements -- Brooks of Indiana and Rep. Martha Roby of Alabama -- appear to threaten the dwindling number of Republican women in the House, an issue GOP leaders are keenly aware of and are working to prioritize in 2020. Only one new Republican woman was elected to the House in the 2018 midterms. And while the number of House Democratic women hit a record high after the midterms, the ranks of House GOP women were cut nearly in half, dropping from 23 in the last session of Congress to 13."

I am white, kind of old, republican, but definitely not racist. Can't we all just get along? LOL

Well, Rod, what is your comment on the fact that your party is about to lose Will Hurd, the only Republican of color in the House? Or the fact that Hurd is one of only 4 Republicans out of over 200 who voted for a Resolution condemning Trump's latest racist tweets?

Look, I lived in Florida. I know lots of old, white Republicans. I know they're not racist. But it looks more and more clear that their party, the GOP, is racist - as an institution. How long do you expect to be able to claim "Republican not racist" identity and continue to have credibility?

I can only speak for myself. I side with the Republican party on many things, but not all things. I have friends that are Republican, Democrat, and Independent. The funny thing is we have a lot in common, get along great, and agree on almost everything. One of my best friends is a Republican, and his wife is black. My business partner is Iranian. I dated a black woman for years. I am a Republican, and I couldn’t care less about skin color. I’ve done humanitarian work all over the world including South America, Africa, and Asia, with other Republicans. I care deeply about other people. Others I know care deeply about people.

The media is making everything into a circus show. People need to wake up. Personally, I do not know any racist Republicans. I lived in Minneapolis for almost my entire life. Today, I live in the South, and I do not know any racist. In fact, I see people of different color getting along better down here than up north. I am sure there are racist Democrats and gay Republications. At the end of the day, we are all Americans. I’d love to see a third party added to the ticket, but until that happens, we will continue to see division. In all my 50-years, it’s sad to see where the nation is today. I think we can all agree on that. Change will come at the individual level and not from bureaucrats in Washington.

Trump tweets "Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came" towards women of color. Your party seemingly agrees, 197-4 in the House. Your reaction?

As I said, I don't agree entirely with the Republican party. Do you agree with every position of the Democratic Party? Politicians are far from perfect and I hope all Americans take issue when politicians behave badly. I’ll keep my opinions here related to education.:D

Personally, I find political discussions boring. All of them.

But, FWIW, you can pretty well glean Rod's political positions, including his unwavering support for Trump, on his twitter feed at https://twitter.com/rodmclarkson.

As the saying goes, res ipsa loquitur. :D

Democratic Party is not condoning racism at around 98% rate.

Anyhoo, I find myself most in agreement with the Liberal Party of Canada, yet unable to vote for them as they insist on nominating hypocritical pricks in my riding. I'd loath to have to defend the Trudeau Tribe. Still, compared to the Trumpublicanism, they're a paragon of reason and virtue; Democratic Party, even more so. Aren't you bothered by the fact that your party tried to win the midterms by running on the "invasion" rhetoric that El Paso shooter just reused? Still want to identify with that? I KNOW you're not racist (again, I literally know a bunch of you; even know one black immigrant Trump voter - a friend of mine in fact), but don't be surprised people will not bother to make a distinction.

Pointing at the President reading a teleprompter speech is not getting to the true feelings of the man. These are generally just words written by other people. His racism becomes much more obvious when he is tweeting or answering questions.

Okay I'll try out this friend argument thing.

I have friends that are Republican but they aren't racist.

Doesn't sound good enough. How about.

My wife is Republican but she's Taiwanese and not racist. My ex-wife is a Mexican and a Democrat and she is racist but not against Mexicans, just Filipinos.

I think I need more practice
