    Re: EDMC

Do they pay you while you go through the training?. Because I've heard of school that trains possible online teachers but don't pay them for the training.

Most (99.9%) schools will not pay you for the training. I have had one school pay a small bonus after my first couple classes that they called a stipend for the training.

Is excessive hiring common in public non-profit or private for-profit accredited schools?

From my experience -- both. Schools want to have a large adjunct pool, so they will overhire, knowing that there are plenty of people who will jump through hoops to get their foot in the door.

Same experience with them, also with Cardean University. Most of these schools train 2 or 3 times more faculty that they need. At the end, the inventory cost is zero as they don't pay for storage costs.

    Hi Raristud and others,
I am trying to help someone I know get a job in America. He is almost 50 years old and wants a job that will pay him about 2-2.5K or maybe starting lesser.
He is a medical doctor with more than 20 years of medical experience and plans to close down his practice and move to US. His family has a couple of green card holders. The main problem for him is visa status. He has a tourist visa and obviously cannot work on it. To chang it into a work visa is a long process and he will need to find a company that will sponsor him.
I don't think an online teaching job would do that. Is it possible for him to get a similar job without changing his visa in to a full time work visa? Do you think the institutes will decline his application because of this?
He can each in a variety of areas like anatomy, physiology etc. Does he need to take the teaching placement exam?
Please help me with your advice and suggestions,
    Adoncia

He may want to consult with an immigration attorney specialized in US Immigration Law. My wife's work visa was only applicable for a single employer. She was not able to move around from company to company. This is why US permanent resident status is important for mobility. If he applies to another company, they may sponser him if he has legitimate qualifications and are interested. There is more important information that this person should know before applying for a US Work Visa. Seek consultation with an immigration attorney.
