I tuned in about 20 minutes late and it was 4-0. I thought I was on the science fiction channel or something.
There is probably a cricket league in your area; just do a search "cricket clubs your area" There is often someone explaining rules to spectators. I learned about polo, modern pentathlon, dragon boat racing, and cyclo-cross by attending one or more local events.

My last comment (maybe) on the US women's world cup victory is this. I'm not a big fan of Sports Illustrated but when faced with a decision about how to handle the cover photo for the story on the US victory they made an interesting and smart decision. Each player got their own solo cover photo. https://www.yahoo.com/style/every-single-member-of-the-us-womens-124011993863.html

I know you can't wait for the Cup to start but here's a related story in the meantime. Olivia Moultrie https://www.si.com/soccer/2019/05/29/olivia-moultrie-pro-us-soccer-nwsl-portland-thorns-nike

They certainly seem to have run up the score. Hopefully they didn't do it just to humiliate the Thai team. Is there a points-differential tie-breaker thing so that margin of victory counts?
Yes and that will be the state rationale. Regardless of that, most coaches will begin putting in the bench players in order to balance the skill level on the field. The US did send in some subs who then, in turn, also scored. The hardcore philosophy goes something like this "It's not my job to worry about the feelings of the opposing team. It's my job to score as many points as possible." It's understandable but at a certain point becomes difficult to watch. Look for something similar, though not as extreme, on Sunday when the USA plays Chile. https://www.sbnation.com/2018/6/21/17484912/world-cup-tiebreakers-group-stage-goal-differential-fair-play-rule
USA over Chile 3-0. We saw some more playing time for the bench and it was nice to see Carli Lloyd in there and scoring twice. We'll see a tougher test on Thursday when USA plays Sweden.
Norway v. Australia was a fun game to watch. Tied 1-1 at the end of 120 minutes, it was decided on penalty kicks with Norway winning and moving on to the Quarter Finals. The US team plays Spain on Monday.
Just watched France beat Brazil 2-1 in OT. Both teams looked very good to my eye and France had to really work to win this one. It was the kind of game that we tune into the World Cup to see. It's going to be tough for the US to get by France.
