    Good evening all,
I wanted to gain more teacher certification in the area of Physical Education and Health. I am trying to find a way to complete these classes all online and most preferably through alternative credit sources. Below are the requirements - any ideas where to take and complete these courses? Thanks in advance everyone:

"Current regulations for Health & Physical Education certification require that applicants complete a minimum of 30 credits in a coherent sequence in either Health or Physical education. A coherent sequence requires that at least 12 credits are completed at the advanced level of study (junior, senior or graduate level). An additional 15 credits at any level must be completed in the ancillary subject matter. Within the Physical Education credits, study in team, dual, and individual sports must be completed. Please provide a course description if a course is not taken from the Health or Physical Education Department. Related courses may be accepted depending on the course description/content. Courses in pedagogy/education are not accepted towards the subject matter preparation"

I'm currently working on an MS in Health and Human Performance at Fort Hays State. You can customize this degree to fit your career goals and there are many options to go towards the Health and Physical Education route. You aren't going to find a more affordable program, however I do think you can find a better one that you'll get more out of. I'm not learning as much in my classes as I would like. This is partly due to the way the courses are structured and partly due to me already having ample knowledge in the subjects. If price was not a concern, I'd look at a different program. But this definitely gives you the most bang for your buck.

Good evening and thanks so much for your reply. For me, price, being able to take it online, and the courses fulfilling those license requirements I listed above are my main 3 things. Is that master's degree pricey? If so, do you know of any other avenues as to how to get those classes for that cert?

    Thanks again!

The entire degree is costing me around $9K which is super cheap. At less than $300 per credit it is cheaper than most undergrad credits at state schools. After rereading your first post I have some questions.

Are you already a certified teacher and looking to expand your credentials or are you going for initial certification?
The degree I mentioned isn't cohort based, although I don't know why though would be a requirement for you.
When you said 30 credits I assumed you were talking about masters degrees, but now I'm not sure. Are you going for a bachelors or masters?

    Hello again,
I am already a licensed teacher but I would like to obtain more certifications - specifically in the physical education and health position. I would pursue it as just post-bachelor's certification or a master's - whichever was probably more cost-efficient and doable and online. I hope that helps clarify. Let me know. Thanks again

I see. If you are just looking for a masters degree I could help you out since I've done a lot of research in that area the last few years. However I haven't looked at certifications or licensing at all since I already have those from my bachelors that I did on campus. I really can't help you anymore from that standpoint.

Sure - if you know of any online and low-priced health and physical education masters I am all ears. Thanks again

Although not exactly in Health and/or Physical Education. The two programs that were most appealing to me were the one I mentioned from Fort Hays State University in Health and Human Performance and also from Concordia University-Chicago in either Exercise Science or Applied Exercise Physiology. If you're looking for one more in education, Eastern New Mexico University has one in Physical Education that is also very affordable.

Thanks for your reply with the info. I looked into Eastern New Mexico but for the online courses they don't offer those required classes for my state (team sports, etc.).

Any other places that could fulfill the requirements above online that I mentioned?

    Thanks again!

I attended Canisius College for my MS and many students in my cohort were studying Sports Administration / Human Performance. Their masters is fully online (an internship is required but is done where you live). https://www.canisius.edu/academics/programs/sport-administration
It's not nearly as inexpensive as Fort Hays. 2019 tuition is $820/cr but they have a top-ranked program, especially in your field, so its something to consider.
