Hi, I am keen to know about the public reception/acceptance of a French business school by the name of IPE Management School Paris. (IPE in French is L'Institut Po L'Expertise)

The school is based in Paris, France. Its international MBA and DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) programs is based in Kent, United Kingdom.

    Thank you

    IPE site is here. IPE-Paris

The school says it is officially certified and internationally recognised by:

    • The French Government at Level 1 (Niveau 1) The Highest Academic Recognition in France.
    • The French National Commission for Professional Certifcation-Commission National de la Certifcation Professionelle (CNCP)
    • The Commission Nationale Europeenne de Certification (CEC)
    • The National Academic Recognition Information Center (NARIC) UK

The school is presently a candidate for programmatic accreditation by ACBSP. As far as I know, that process usually takes a couple of years. There seem to be several schools, from Apsley Business School in UK to a business school in Bangkok, that offer programs to earn IPE Management School degrees.

This page, from a German associate of IPE and other schools, says that IPE was founded in 1975 and has around 35,000 grads. https://translate.google.ca/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.afum.de/partnerunis.aspx&prev=search Some details of acceptance of IPE degrees, including recognition by UK NARIC.

From this page: The AFUM (English: Academy for Enterprise Management - J.) is the center of studies of the ipe in Germany. The ipe courses are offered in Belgium, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and the USA.

Can't find a US location. From IPE page, only school in the Americas where IPE-awarded degree programs are offered is in Bolivia - here:

    Universidad Privada Boliviana (UPB)
Av. Cap. Victor Ustariz km 6.5
    Cochabamba
    Bolivia

Thank you for the enlightenment. Did some research on my own following the leads given by you. French education system seems complex to non-French speaking, non-French reading rather, person like me. I read somewhere that Niveau 1 is actually up to Level 7, which is the Master degree level (while Level 8 is the PhD/Doctoral level) of the European Qualifications Framework (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Qualifications_Framework)

According to this French page, with a Government seal, Niveau 1 refers to both Doctoral level (Level 8 on EQF) and Master's (Level 7 on EQF). Titres Certifiés enregistrés au RNCP - CNCP
BTW - I read French just fine, but the French education system is still bewildering to me, quite often. I can easily understand how difficult it can be.

Hi, I need some help in clarification.

From IPE's website www.ipe-paris.com, I notice the following:

    "Accreditation and Approval
Pôle Paris Alternance (PPA) is an Institution of Higher Education of Réseau Grandes Écoles Spécialisées (Réseau GES) and is fully approved and authorised by the French State to award qualifications at Level 1 (Masters) and Level 2 (Undergraduate)
IPE Management School Paris (IPE) is the International School of Paris Pôle Alternance (PPA) which is responsible for the delivery of our Masters and Undergraduate degrees in overseas locations within the authority as granted for PPA."

It seems to me that IPE is THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL of PPA, and PPA is ONLY Approved and Authorized by the French State to award qualifications at Level 1 (Masters) and Level 2 (Undergraduates). It has NOT been stated any where in its website that Level 1 is DOCTORAL.

I noted that Johann has written:

"According to this French page, with a Government seal, Niveau 1 refers to both Doctoral level (Level 8 on EQF) and Master's (Level 7 on EQF). Titres Certifiés enregistrés au RNCP - CNCP"

My puzzle is why does IPE not clearly say that its approval and authorization by the French State is for Level 1 (Doctoral and Masters) and hence be able to market its Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program as such?

Would Johann and other esteemed forum participants help me to clarify. (My friends and I are looking at the possibility of doing IPE's DBA and we therefore wish to ascertain that it is really approved and authorized by the French State before we sign up)

No idea, James. As I said before, I have no problem reading French, but, despite any reading, the educational system is still bewildering to me. I'm assuming that Niveau (Level) 1 can indeed refer to Doctoral and Master's level, as the Government page said it did. However, I'm thinking (and this is just a guess) that despite that, only the Master's degrees at IPE are approved by the State and the Doctorates may not have this specific approval.

Perhaps either IPE or (better yet) the Ministry of Education can provide you with a definitive answer. I can't. For what it's worth, I emailed the Ministry - in (I'm certain) reasonably decent French, on another enquiry - and I received no reply. A French member here at DI phoned the Ministry on the same matter and received the info immediately.

Thank you Johann. I just emailed IPE concerning its DBA. Looking forward to its reply..........

I do agree with your view that Niveau (Level) 1 can indeed refer to Doctoral and Master's level, as the Government page said it did.

Perhaps PPA, and hence its international school, IPE, only has its Masters programs approved and authorized at the moment; its Doctoral program, DBA, may not be ready for submission for approval, may be ready and pending submission for approval, may have been submitted and waiting for approval, or may have its submission.......

No, but perhaps DI member James Gurusamy did. He was going to email the school. Dr. Coral Milburn-Curtis is in charge of the DBA program. (Her own Doctorate is from Oxford.) Perhaps she can give you the info you require.
