Well, in fairness, children are small.

Yeah. The title easily lends itself to misunderstanding.

    From the article:

With all the downright scary means that federal agencies employ to spy on US citizens, I actually find it really funny that an unanswered phone call = What?! OMG, we'll never find them now!

Yes, very scary indeed. I mean, we are talking about human beings for Gods sakes! They are being lost, animal shelters have better controls than the present adminstrations. Hopefully, people will remember this when they go vote in November.

The blue wave cometh! Keep America Great! :)

I think you're still misunderstanding what's actually happening. The children aren't "lost" it's just that they've lost contact with the families- which might be intentional on the part of the families (I'd certainly favor not being tracked by the feds if I could do anything to avoid it), or it might be that some of them have gone back to their home country.

Some family members are undocumented, so they don't want to stay in contact with the federal government. Some undocumented immigrants have been arrested when coming forward to offer to take care of the children in detention now.

When I worked for DFPS, we would receive calls about undocumented children who have gone missing and suspicion of trafficking. The children are sometimes placed with distant relatives/family friends or family members that the child doesn't know well. I remember one case of a teenage girl who was placed with an aunt she didn't know well. The aunt let a family friend (a man) take the girl to Mexico, and no one knows where she is now. I dealt with another case of a boy being sold for labor.
