I've often pondered how tech can help make learning easier. I thought about a roleplaying game set in a foreign land (e.g. France), where you get some instruction in the grammar and vocabulary and some French words are peppered in there. As you progress through the game, the text becomes more in French and less in English, until at a certain point (say, 80% completion) you're reading nothing but French.

Another idea: to teach crisis intervention skills to volunteers a virtual environment can provide canned responses. Once you've been taught some basic crisis theory and how to formulate good questions or answers, natural language processing can parse your responses and allow you to see what it's like to engage with someone in crisis.

I like it too. I'd enjoy being introduced to a the basics of a language that way.

It looks like a business opportunity for somebody who can roll it out.
