“If you want to be a professional athlete, you don’t need to spend 50 percent of your time in class, which you’re not gonna use anyway, and 50 percent trying to play ball,”

I agree with LaVar Ball. They can still go the college route but getting some bogus degree makes no sense.

But if he wants to do some good then push some personal finance on the young'uns in his league. That so many pros piss away their millions is scandalous.

Here at the LeBron James Institute, we strongly support going straight from high school to the pros.

Going straight to pro will definitely save time. But getting a degree is also helpful in case you need a backup plan especially if you know you can't play pro forever.

That they "EARN" millions is even more scandalous. As I see it, "athlete" is a non-occupation. I'd never pay a penny to watch any of it. Should be minimum-wage at most - and free to watch - like "bread and circuses" in Roman days.
And don't get me started on big-money athletics in colleges/universities. Should be a prohibited activity. Simply not done in many countries that have good education systems.

Bear: True. Mr. James earned about $13,000 for each minute he played last season. I believe that exceeds the minimum wage in most states.
