Th statement below, in the comments posted interests me. It includes an ...um explanation of how Paragon Institute "inherited" unaccredited Chadwick U.'s .edu domain. Chadwick was entitled to its "grandfathered" .edu domain as it obtained it prior to the Oct. 2001 rule that thenceforward, only accredited schools could be accorded .edu domains.

"COMPLETE LIE: A public records check shows that the AL-based, for-profit university (Chadwick - J.) ceased operations 11 years ago (not a few years as you assert), sold its assets, and settled its debts. The only things that remained were its academic records and a .EDU web site used to process transcript requests. When the alumnus that ran this service needed to retire, Paragon was asked to assume the role of records custodian. ...This also cleared the way for Paragon to use the .EDU domain for its own purposes and to better reflect the mission of the organization..." (Emphasis mine - J.)

Isn't that wonderful - and I always thought that since Oct. 2001, .edu domains were unobtainable without recognized accreditation. Has anyone seen Educause lately? Do they still exist? (Yeah, I know they do, but...)
