Why are all forum topics limited to a couple of pages?

The procrastinator in me would really like to see more of the degreeinfo archive. Most forum topics are locked to 4 pages, the IT section has only one page...

There's no limit. Some topics have inspired more discussion than others, some topics are expanded at length but only in a few threads and there are a lot of threads in the general forum that haven't been moved over to the subforums. The subforums haven't always been there and it would be rather cumbersome to try to get every single pre-categorized thread in their appropriate sections.

Now, here's a bit of a sad admission. The search feature on this site is not very good. It's much easier to find threads by going to google and searching for "degreeinfo [your topic here]". This could be an alternate way to sift through the archives of uncategorized threads.

If we see any thread in the general forum that fits the topic of a subforum, we'll gladly move it over

Go to the bottom of the forum page. (The page with the list of threads, newest at the top.) There's a control down there that says "Show threads from the last..." and the default seems to be "45 days". You can change it and get the older threads.

Aha, so, I completely misunderstood the nature of the problem.

Thanks, heirophant! You deserve a pay raise! I'll get right on it... ;)
