    BRILLIANT. And I think that's a spot-on observation.

Devalued? LOL. UoP has had a horrible reputation for years and was sued and fined by the federal government before Obama took office. I first interacted with UoP in 2005. They had unethical recruiting practices back then.

I am afraid that people would single out you going to Purdue University from the backdoor. Likes other backslash Harvard's Extension School... :)

I'll be astonished if the end result of this is that the same entity awards degrees to Purdue and Kaplan students, so it's not like HES at all.

So where is the opportunity here for students? Enroll in Kaplan's BSIT program now and hope by the time you complete the program it has changed over to a Purdue brand?

That would be a spectacularly poor reason to choose a school. At those rates, why not just do something like this and be sure of the outcome?

Best hope KU students have is they end up with a Purdue degree. KU has been on life support for a while.

Looks really messy. Kaplan is owned by a public company Graham Holdings which trades on the NYSE. They can't just give assets away for a "dollar." And I would imagine this asset comes with a ton of liability.

    They're naming it NewU.

'NewU' board OKs tuition for Indiana residents

Free tuition for Purdue staff for NewU, discounted in-state tuition for Indiana residents. Not part of Purdue U's academics or degree granting, diplomas won't have an mention of "Purdue."

They're not naming it that, it's just a placeholder. From your article: 'The agreement with "NewU," as it's being called until another name is chosen'

NewU would be a good name for a scam diet product.

I think the NewU name will be hard to sell the programs. If it is not Purdue brand, I assume people will not choose it over the brand name.

Maybe: Indiana University of Indiana to confuse people over Indiana University of Pennsylvania. :)

There were a lot of people enrolled at Kaplan at the time of the acquisition. They and future students will continue to be attracted to this new entity, whatever they choose to call it. This is not a matter of choose between Purdue and "NewU." This is a matter of people who might go to Kaplan will now go to "NewU."
