Name brand DL MA in Humanities, Liberal Arts or Individualized Studies?

Hello - after 10+ of visiting here for myself have a request for another person.

Anyone know of "name brand" - i.e. somewhat prestigious - masters programs in humanities, liberal arts or self-designed? I'm aware of the many fine cost-effective programs from WNMU, etc. but in this case it should balance name recognition and reputation with cost.

I saw one from Northwestern but the cost is high at around $3K per course. There has to be others...?

It is unrealistic to ask for "name brand" degree programs and then balk at the price tag. With that said, you can find programs such as you've described at Arizona State and at University of North Carolina (Greenboro).

 

Besides Harvard, you're unlikely to find a more prestigious program than the Dartmouth College Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program. There is one required residency during a Summer session.

I'm not sure what your concept of prestige is, but my favorite graduate Liberal Arts/Studies program is Texas Christian University's Master of Liberal Arts program, which can be completed entirely online, with almost unlimited course selection allowed.

 

Understood - but $1000/credit hour is still a lot for something done more for personal growth than strict career utility. Good thing I did my MBA when I did because it seems like the price has gone up tremendously in the past 6 years!
