How long has it been since he has been banned, like two weeks?

Interesting. reread that thread and I didn't see what was so wrong to get someone banned. In fact I think that Maxwell Smart person should have been banned instead. He's an idiot. The racism oozing out of his posts when he complained about those darn hyphenators was palpable. Crazy that people even get banned here. It's a darn distance learning forum for goodness sake.

Maybe I'll get banned for saying this. But this forum needs more female voices. Too much testosterone on this forum.

perhaps I will get banned for saying this but it appeared to be a very selective enforcement of the rules. Like a group of cars were speeding down the highway and the one driver without a PBA sticker was the one who was ticketed.

Then again, no one ever claimed at DI was a free and democratic society. It's a private board that can be as unfair as it likes.

Hmm..I have only ever been banned IRL. Never online. I was kicked out of a Filipino- American Club because I accused two single men who were not of that heritage of joining for the sole purpose of using our events as a dating site and being asian fetishists. I outted them right at dinner in front of everyone. It was quite funny.

President kicked me out. Banned me for life from the Club.

At the gym, I told one of the personal trainers he was a narcissistic asshole and should choke on some baked chicken and sweet potatoes. Banned AGAIN!

I am actually very outspoken in real life and a bit mean to others when I think they have crossed me, and try to be the exact opposite online!

This is news to me. Which thread are we referring to?

When I was in the Navy I served in one duty station where I appeared to be the only male in the department who wasn't married to a woman from the Philippines. It wouldn't have shocked me on the least bit if I learned that those guys had been trolling a club like the one you describe.

Here the issue seems to be, first and foremost, how many moderators agree with your statements (especially on politics). If they agree with you then you appear to get more leeway to break the rules. If they disagree with you then pointing out that disparity gets you banned, apparently.

Uniformly enforcing the rules is a good idea. Banning one of the most active and respected members of this forum because he pointed out that certain mods weren't actually moderating but were slinging mud in the thick of the fight instead hurts the community more than helps it.

But, again, no one ever said that DI had to be fair.

    Mmhmm, Filipinas sure are beautiful!

As an LPN, you should be more precise with the words "asian fetish".

A sexual fetish, as it appears you are referring to is defined as:
Now, unless you somehow know the sex lives and deepest thoughts and emotions of these men, you aren't really qualified to make this assessment.

As for generic definitions of "fetish":

    • a course of action to which one has an excessive and irrational commitment.
It's irrational to deal with estrogen in general. :)

    • a form of sexual desire in which gratification is linked to an abnormal degree to a particular object, item of clothing, part of the body, etc.
Notice: nothing mentioned about race or ethnicity, because this is exactly the same as other characteristics that make up sexual attraction: hair and eye color, skin tone, personality, height, weight, (money), etc.

    • an inanimate object worshiped for its supposed magical powers or because it is considered to be inhabited by a spirit.
What, you mean Pinoys don't have Mermaid-esque magical powers?

Actually Rifleman, I can make that assessment. AS a filipino-american woman I am not going to join the young black professionals' organization or the Indian Lawyers Club(although I did get an invite from one of my Indian female clients for a charity but I am not going there without an invite, because why the hell would I if I had ZERO reason.) (and no it isn't racist to have those clubs, although I am sure you will bring it up)

. It's an ulterior motive when two single guys of non- filipino extraction joined our young filipino american professional association. As a half filipino woman I wanted to get to know more people like me, get more connected with a culture I was genetically a part of but knew next to nothing about. I am not going to learn about my culture from two non-pinoys who are there to get digits. As a half filipino/white woman I get fetishized beyond belief. More so than probably 100% filipino or other asian women. IT's sickening. I hate it and many times I wish I had been born a man because of the sexist comments in the guise of compliments I get.

You are an ass rifleman. As someone who has been fetishised...

ie. I was deadlifting at the gym the other day ..some guy comes up to me and says, "My last girlfriend was Chinese."

Whoop de do. He should get a medal. ANd then he asked me if I'd like to get coffee.

    UGh. Hell no.

Yeah,, I can make that assessment. 100% I can make it. And if I could with zero repercussions I'd punch the shit out of you rifleman.

I can tell you are an asshole just from your responses.

Ban me mods. You obviously need less people like me on this board and more people like rifleman.

apriltrainer, here's an RX for 50mg of chill-pill, please fill at your quickest convenience.

You cannot make a valid assessment that could possibly meet the definitions posted above, unless you can get inside each of these men's minds and observe them in a sexual act (i.e. they can't be aroused or stimulated unless some fetish is met). What you are doing is simply projecting strange prejudices and engaging in uneducated psychoanalysis.

Go talk to a psychologist. A sexual fetish based on someones preference for skin tone or ethnicity does not exist. My post clearly stated this, and nothing more, nothing less.

I see you make it a habit of making hasty conclusions. Why would you say this? Because I don't agree with you on some issue, you assume you can pinpoint my opinions and ideas in some political spectrum in your mind?

Read my first post. Read my first paragraph in this post. It's not a fetish. Do you think any guy who shows interest in you has a fetish? Men like women, get over it you child.

I see your location is listed as Chicago, I too happen to live in the Chicagoland area. We can meet and you can have your one punch, but I get to tickle you with a feather for ten seconds. I do have a feather fetish.

You've called me an asshole, an ass, and threatened to punch me. All I've done is respond to your comments. I did it by discussing definitions. You do not belong on an academic forum.

I didn't ban Rich, but that had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with it.

Typically you're quite precise in your responses, paying close attention to the exact words that the other members use. In this case you have gotten it completely wrong and it's difficult not to wonder if you are deliberately rewriting history to suit your needs. A very specific reason was given for the ban and it had nothing to do with criticizing the Moderators. It's OK if you disagree with the action or the reasonng but please don't misrepresent.

I don't believe I've rewritten anything. As a matter of fact, I believe Steve called out the fact that it was YOU who misrepresented what Rich said.

You can disagree with the perception of others, naturally. But let's not pretend like I'm just sitting here trying to manipulate this situation.

I'm also unclear as to how manipulating this would suit my needs, as you say.

It isn't an unheard of concept. There is certainly a difference between an attraction and a fetish. I have a leather jacket. I like it. But I don't have a leather fetish.

Calling racism where none exists. Check.

Calling someone an idiot (ad hominem attack) unprovoked. Check.

Not understanding what the hyphenation argument meant regardless of it being clearly explained (what part of holding onto things/terms that separate us do you not understand when it's IN the very term itself?). Check.

I bet you didn't get the job you wanted for other reasons than you think.

And yes, you SHOULD get into "trouble" for a post like that, not just because it's inaccurate, silly, (and accusing of something heinous without any proof, just an emotional response) but because it's hypocritical to on one end call someone an idiot and then act like one yourself.

Anyway, I'm not on this earth to agree with everyone or agree with the popular opinion just to go along with the herd that are generally incapable of thinking for themselves or recognizing a farce even when it's obvious. The same people who do that are the same people who'll be at the polls thinking by voting in the next lying puppet things will "get better", nevermind that they've been doing it all their lives and things have only gotten worse.

But hey, it's your life, you don't have to live it awake.
