At first glance, I thought "FOAD" was a rather cheeky acronym -- at least in English. Turns out it's French - "Formations ouvertes et à distance," or open distance learning.

Many diplomas, several master's degrees and a MOOC - or "CLOM" in French. Here's the FOAD page: FOAD — MOOC - Se former par la FOAD et les MOOCs avec l'AUF

I saw no reason to doubt legitimacy here, but one aspect perked my ears: 7 University Diplomas in Medicine. By distance? I have no details.

Basically, this is appears to be an offering of courses through a network of overseas Universities, by a Haitian organization. It says it grants reduced fees, scholarships etc. "to the best applicants."

Not for most of us. "Students ... pass their exams in person at the Francophone Digital Campus of Port-au-Prince."

The university diplomas in medicine that are offered by the (public) Université de Bordeaux allow medical/health professionals to gain additional knowledge in various subjects such as nutritional epidemiology or health statistics. They are 1 year long and in no way allow you to practise medecine.

AUF seems legitimate as they only facilitate access to distance learning programs from public universities and institutions in France, Canada, Switzerland...

It's the Francosphere's equivalent to the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Yes - you're absolutely right. I didn't doubt AUF's legitimacy, for that very reason - the participating schools, as you say, are completely legit. And thanks for the info on the medical diplomas. To me, a layman, it makes good sense to facilitate the granting of diplomas in these medical fields to professionals via distance. If I'd looked into the program (as I should have) I'd not have questioned it. Thanks for taking the time.
