I've long had the suspicion that No Man's Sky has seen several delays to coincide with the release of Playstation VR. We'll see if that turns out to be the case.

And, oh yeah, that game is a day one purchase for me. It sounds revolutionary.

Gaming is like watching a movie but being in control. It's a great way to relax, unwind, sharpen your hand-eye coordination, and jog your imagination which can help you stay creative for other tasks in life (Job, school, personal projects).

My small confession: I got a PS4 for Christmas (the Uncharted package) and I haven't even unpacked it. I have too much going on now and I just close the books and close my eyes and I'm asleep. I suppose I'll get around to it but it's one of those semi-unhealthy things where I'm too busy to have fun.

I stopped playing Fallout when I was out of town for a couple of weeks. Now I'd feel lost if I tried to jump back into it. I use mine more as a Blueray player and to stream Amazon/Netflix. I'm sure I'll get hooked on something again though soon.

When I was going into my PhD comps, I had to give my Xbox 360 to someone because I knew it was going to be too much of a distraction. Halo 2 came out then.

No Man's Sky is now available. I'll be ordering mine from amazon or someplace like that.

Picked mine up from Best Buy. Will be checking it out tonight. Early reviews I have read seem to be mixed.

Meanwhile, Maniac is working on his first playthrough of Kick Master- a game released 24 years ago.

So far, the game is mostly flying around space collecting rocks and discovering new plants and animal life. There is the occasional battle against robotic drones and a space pirate here and there. I know it's supposed to be about exploration, but I don't think I have the patience to fly around and snap photos of plants and rocks. I'm not 12 years old anymore with that amount of time to kill.

HAHA! Now that you're all grown up you'd like to get straight to the killing? LOL!

NMS got ripped to shreds. Lots of things the developers said would be in the game didn't make it into the game. I was pumped for it, now I don't even want it.

However, I am having a blast with Doom. I don't know how it didn't get rated higher, because everything about the game is incredible. I've been playing for well over a month and I can't find a single flaw. Brings me back to the days when I played the old Doom on 32X (yes, 32X, don't laugh!). Except, this Doom is way better in its time than that game was.

Ah, the memories. I used to own a 32X, I was a huge Sega (still am) fan but felt burned with the 32X. I bought NMS, I agree with reviews, it is basically Minecraft in space.

A nice review of the game here (warning: language is NSFW).

I was a huge Sega fan, too. I had the Master System, Master System II (why, I don't know), Genesis original, Genesis update (had to get it so I could use the 32X), Sega CD, 32X, Game Gear, Dreamcast (still play it!).

I skipped Saturn though, just had no interest in it, got a Playstation.

Re: NMS review - yeah, that rage is pretty indicative of most. People had high hopes. Long fall.

I wish I had kept my Master System, I really miss it. I still have my Genesis and Dreamcast (love the Dreamcast), I never got to play the Game Gear. I love retro gaming, several years ago I began collecting old games and systems. My retro collection now includes: NES, SNES, Super Famicom, Genesis, PC Engine Core Grafx, Turbo Grafx 16, Turbo Duo, NEO GEO Home AES System, Dreamcast, original GameBoy, Neo Geo Pocket, and Atari Lynx.

Is it a Genesis model 1? The model 1 actually has a Master System processor inside of it and can natively play Master System games if you either have the Power Base Converter or if you use a flash cart like the Mega Everdrive. (I use the latter.)

You can even plug in a Master System controller and it is exactly like actually having a Master System because the model 1 Genesis basically has a Master System stuffed inside of it.

My collection is smaller than yours. I have an NES, SNES (& Super GameBoy 2), Genesis and N64. I don't use the N64 and will probably sell it. I also just got a raspberry pi that I'm going to set up as a MAME "console" so I can play the games on a separate dedicated machine and can play them on my CRT TV to reduce input delay and have that more authentic arcade feel as compared to my LCD PC monitor. At this point, the only item left on my gaming wishlist is a TurboGraphx16. For now, I can just emulate it on the raspberry pi and connect my NES controller via adapter to it- since the NES controller and the TG16 controller are very similar. That's the plan, anyway.

Retro games are the best :)

I always wanted a Neo-Geo, but the price was nuts, so I just settled for playing Sengoku and Fatal Fury at the arcade (lol, arcades). Thing was, when Genesis finally hit its stride technologically and developers were up on all the new dev tricks the gap between it and Neo-Geo (while still noticeable) was no longer quite large enough for me to consider it, especially when Genesis started having a few polygonal games and first-person shooters.

I had a SNES but I was never big on it at the time. It wasn't until years later that I began to appreciate the SNES and respect its power. I also had a TG-16. Favorite game? Splatterhouse. Man, when I got the shotgun, I tell ya, that was crazy.

Wow. Now I feel like the only kid on the block who didn't have a TG16 :grumpy:

Oh man, I had completely forgotten about the Genesis/Master System converter, I will definitely look for one, I have about 15 or so Master System cartridges and game cards. I agree with you retro gaming is the best.

I got lucky, I bought my Neo-Geo at a garage sale several years ago for $50 bucks with 3 games (magician lord, nam '75, and metal slug). Most of my game collection has been bought at garage sales, estate sales, and flea markets. I'm amazed about the prices of these systems or games, it's crazy. I love the Turbo Grafx, I remember Splatterhouse, cool game.
