The Distance Education Accrediting Commission has accredited NationsUniversity. DEAC notified NU today.

Saw nothing on either the DEAC or NU website about it.

I'll reserve judgment until DEAC publishes the next list of accreditation actions.

But I'm not going to join the dedicated group of individuals who have held their collective breath these past few years.

DEAC notifies the school about 24 hours before it is published. NU received that notification yesterday at 4 pm Central Time.

Well I don't mind saying that I didn't believe they could/would get accredited. It's good news for them and everyone else. One thing that we've always said is that new accreditation = price increase. It will be interesting to see what happens in this case.

Congratulations to Nationsuniversity. Well done. The university has generally been well spoken of in terms of academic rigor, transferability to accredited colleges, etc. DEAC has toughened accreditation standards over the last few years and I like their new leader.

I think most people were not necessarily unsupportive of Nations but it has been a long process that involved them withdrawing a couple of times and other administrative issues that kind of burned people out.

As with University of the People....great idea and potential to impact many people.

Another Critic! It was" NationsU isnt Accredited". Now, you are still carrying endless and fault finding attitude.

For a journey that started over 5 years as much as i can remember. Come on, show some love, Neuhaus!

Congrats to you and all the other NU students. I would suggest wrapping up your degree as soon as you can before the tuition goes up.

I showed plenty of "love" in one of the other NationsU threads, thank you.

I am now leaving this forum because the moderators are pushing for me to reveal my identity. I am an "insider" at NU and I would have been happy to answer any questions that came up. But I am not comfortable with being told I must use my real name. Therefore this will be my final post.

If you are truly an insider (quite possible since you did give us a heads up on accreditation before it went public) then you should have an issue with revealing insider information to us under an anonymous screen name.

Either the information is yours to distribute or it isn't.

Your anonymity creates credibility issues for us. And, I assume, your unwillingness to unmask yourself is a symptom of you telling us things that weren't intended to be leaked from NationsU.

In that sense, I'm glad you are no longer going to share your secrets with us. As critical of NationsU as I am, I also respect that they are entitled to conduct their affairs with a reasonable expectation that their employees (and the spouses of their employees) won't go on the internet and blab about things before Nations has the opportunity to release that information themselves.

I appreciate the occasional insider tip but I also recognize that these "tips" walk an ethical line that I don't intend to cross. So, from that perspective, I am glad you are choosing to walk away rather than potentially put us all into that ethical quagmire.

If you can't say what you want to say under your real name then perhaps you shouldn't be saying it.

In the spirit of the Nations cultists here, all I can say is . . .

Yippie!!! Oh, joy! Oh, rapture! Hallelujah!

But seriously, I'd rather you stick around. I wouldn't know who allegedly told you that you must use your real name, since pseudonyms are common (and accepted) on fora like this one. Nonetheless, since you used the term "we" when discussing Nations, I feel it was quite appropriate for you to have been asked, at the very least, to disclose your capacity in terms of speaking on behalf of the school.

But you have apparently decided otherwise. Therefore, the old expression, "Don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out" comes to mind. Ciao.
