Northcentral’s PhD in BA or Trident’s PhD in BA. If you had to choose, which would you choose and why?

In a situation where I was forced to choose between these two schools (and no others) I would choose Northcentral simply because it's a bit less expensive. While I'm sure there are some technical differences between these two schools, overall I see them as equivalent, especially on the Bachelors level. Beyond the constraints of the question I'm quite certain that I would not even consider these two schools. I'd be much more likely to go with a school like Fort Hays, again, because of the costs. I don't understand why you'd spend 26K-28K for a generic BA degree (such as Business) when you could get the same product for less than half the cost elsewhere.

To echo Kizmet's sentiments, I would hate to be in a position where I am being forced to only choose between these two, for starters.

If a gun was being held to my head, I would choose Northcentral. I see no reason to choose one over the other except for cost.

But I likely wouldn't be choosing a program in general BA. I've become rather interested in industrial and organizational psychology as it relates to human resources. I could see the study of IOP actually improving my career by expanding the manner in which I approach and think about it. So I would probably look toward a few programs in that area. While it would not be a business degree, I think it would complement my current skills, education and professional certifications well (i.e. I don't think people would look at it as I earned a degree completely unrelated to my field as if I earned a graduate degree in, say, music).

But, I suppose there are some business practitioners who might not be able to specialize in a similar manner.

I thought the OP refers to Ph.D in Business Administration (BA) instead of Bachelor of Arts (BA).

Northcentral University and Trident University holds different regional accreditation, but they both virtual university the purpose for profit. For the price tag, Northcentral University is the chosen; however, I have many DI members had to transfer to different institution out of Northcentral University. I don't know that is the main problem there, but I think most former students had issues with the administration.

I was referring to business administration when I said "BA" but I can see how that might be confusing to others. We need a new abbreviation for business administration.

    Maybe, "bizadm?"

    BusAd?

I don't think this is going to work

I graduated from Trident (MBA) and Northcentral (PhD). I would go with Northcentral for the PhD because I have heard crazy stories about the PhD from Trident and getting a committee together.

I was at your crossroad about a month ago.

I researched both Trident and NCU on this forum and then I read something interesting in one of the threads . . . . "Look to see what current faculty have as their credentials."

There was a lot with DL PhD's from: Capella, Walden, NCU and Nova Southeastern

In that 'minor' search (8 schools), I didn't find anyone with a PhD from Trident.

Those findings meant a lot to me.

    Regards,
    Michael

    Here's one.

And I found another one at Rutgers. And I even found one that Michigan68 might appreciate here.

Now, all of them are in health sciences but there are Trident Ph.D.'s out there teaching.

Incidentally, I don't check individual schools when I do this, I typically google things like "PhD(or Ph.D.), Trident University" as that is the format many universities and colleges use for their faculty pages.

Since I did this for Trident I just thought I would offer the most prominent examples for NCU as well. I personally wouldn't pursue my PhD through either school but that's not because I think anything is wrong with them. I just found programs elsewhere that attract my interest a bit more.

Here's a Duke professor and a professor at Iona College both with Ph.D.'s from Northcentral.

As a recent Ph.D grad from Trident, I can confirm what Randell1234 mentioned.
Stay away from Trident at all costs. Long story short, they needlessly extended my dissertation process by over 2 years (by not allowing me to put together a committee), while forcing me to pay tuition every 12 weeks. Their actions (in my situation) were near criminal. I can also confirm that, during my time, at least 2 others in the program experienced the exact same thing.
I will not be surprised if a lawsuit is formally brought against them at some point...
