A reliable source says that the CEO of a hospital in the Norfolk, Virginia area has a Ph.D. from the totally fake Williamstown University along with a claimed Bachelor's from Princeton and Master's from Berkeley. I can't find him. Can you? (Williamstown's website is actually registered to "UDP International," the huge "University Degree Program phony.)
It shouldn't be hard to find- I have yet to see a hospital in our contemporary day that didn't have its own website with a few vanity ages for the head honchos. The search might be tedious, but not so hard I reckon. If we could compile a checklist of all area hospitals then mark which ones are NOT harboring an umalumnus (that is totally a word, starting now!), we could find it via crowdsourcing the process of elimination. Here's a thought, which could be entirely wrong in reality but not necessarily wrong based on the info you provided. Maybe the CEO in question HAS a fake Ph.D but doesn't list it in professional settings? It could be just a fun thing to brag about at parties or to amuse yourself with when comparing your diploma to that of your dog or cat.
The big hospital system in Norfolk is Sentara. Their CEO is MR. David Bernd. His bio mentions his masters from MCV (which is a very credible school) but nothing about a PhD. I don't think he has a doctorate, given that they refer to him as Mr. Bernd. There's also CHKD or the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters. Their CEO is Jim Dahling, who has masters degrees from VCU and University of Minnesota. Nothing about any of the places that were mentioned. Those are the only two that I can think of in Norfolk. If you're talking Norfolk area, as in Hampton Roads, there's also the Riverside System a bit north, but not really in Norfolk. -Matt
This is from 2009, but from the Harvard Business School Association of Orange County (California): Perhaps he migrated eastward? EDIT: He did! http://www.linkedin.com/in/peterbastone
It is quite peculiar that Mr. Bastone identifies himself as "Peter Bastone, Dr.PH , MBA, MACHM" on his LinkedIn page, but he completely omits his doctorate from his education section. Also of note is this press release from Chesapeake Regional Medical Center announcing Bastone's hiring. It identifies him as "Peter F. Bastone, Dr.PH, MBA, MACHM", but only gives the following detail: Odd that so much detail would be devoted to his lesser degrees, but his doctorate is barely mentioned. It suggests the author was told to omit any reference to Williamstown University.
Just curious, Dr. Bear. Now he's been found -- exactly why did you want DI members to find him? How do you plan to use this info?   Johann
Johann: "Just curious, Dr. Bear. Now he's been found -- exactly why did you want DI members to find him? How do you plan to use this info?" John: A reporter for the Norfolk-Virginia Beach Pilot phoned and wanted information on the school. I asked why. She told me a bit about the case, but not the name of the person or the hospital. I tried to find it, just for my own curiosity, and couldn't, so I asked for help. I will do nothing with the name, other than use it to search for possible stories in the newspaper.
I'm sure you may find one. Looking at the press announcement cited by our member, GeneralSnus, it looks like he may have left it a bit late to pull the tarp over his fake "doctorate." I note this man lists Latin among his languages. This whole thing will likely result in "fluctuat nec mergitur," - he rocks but he won't sink. Johann
The only time Harry Nilsson had a #1 hit with a song he wrote. He had other Number 1's, and saw songs he wrote rise up the charts. ("One" hit #5.) He won the Grammy for "Everybody's Talkin'," but he didn't write it. He had a Number 1 for "Without You," but didn't write it. I love Nilsson's work. Oh, my.
