    Hello,

I am not sure if this post belongs here. I apologize if it does not.

I am considered a disabled student. I have a heart condition that in the past two years has drastically changed my lifestyle. I've had to put my education on hold because of it. I feel I am able to take on an education program although I am considered disabled. I am also under 30 and I feel that time is passing me by. I have a BA in Public Policy from (I think the term is..) a "brick and mortar" school. I've been accepted to a MSc in Public Administration by a brick and mortar school. They have told me that with help of the university, I would be able to complete my studies from home in the same manner as distance education. They have changed their mind concerning this.

I figure my next option is to find a program online. While I have a few "online offered" brick and mortar university programs in mind, I still have some questions.

In the future, when (perhaps) I am well enough to work or continue education, has anyone gone on to lecture in their respective fields with an online MA? And secondly, has anyone gone on to PhD studies at the brick and mortar school with a degree earned online (from a brick and mortar school)? Grades are not considered in this issue because I average an A or A-.

    Thank you,
    Sveta

Sveta. try the following link. Its a search for master of public administration if thats the particular field you wish to join. Make sure that the AACSB accreditation is selected.

Online Degree Programs in 'master public administration' | GetEducated.com

I myself am a new member starting out on earning my first degree but if you spend time on the forum you will meet a lot of members who are doing or have done their Masters and PhD either through online, Brick & Mortar (B&M) or hybrid courses (mix of online and campus)

From what i learned from the forums AACSB is a necessary accreditation for lecturing in business schools not sure about other disciplines though. Though i imagine that the AACSB accreditation makes it easier for B&M schools to accept an AACSB accredited degree into their PhD program. I'm sure someone here will straighten out that issue for you.

Anyway welcome to the forum and good luck with your education and health.

AACSB is for business administration and accounting. NASPAA is for public administration. I'm not sure if that's as important as AACSB and APA are for teaching.

I earned my BA in Social Science from Thomas Edison State College which is 99% online. I earned my Master of Security Studies from Angelo State University online. I will be attending Texas State University on campus for a PhD program in Criminal Justice.

Yes to both. Mode of instruction is much less important now than it was in the '90s. Many people earn degree online from schools that are primarily brick and mortar, such as Georgetown, Berkeley, and Oxford, and have no problem advancing either professionally or academically afterward.

Thanks for the replies. If anyone else has anything to add, that would be great. However, so far, thanks for the information!
