Can anyone recommend any options for either a Graduate Certificate or MA in History online other than APU/AMU? The financial aid issues over there have been harrowing. Otherwise, I would have pursued their Graduate Certificate.

I am looking for a RA accredited school that does not require a GRE and has a non-thesis option. I am also looking for something as affordable as possible (I realize this is subjective). I am not asking anyone to do any research on my behalf (I have been doing plenty of that)...I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions or knew of any Grad Cert. or MA options off the top of their head.

    Thank you!

One other requirement that I forgot to mention is that I am needing an online program that does not require a certain amount of undergraduate hours in History. Thanks!

    Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for the link. I've looked at those schools which were featured on a list by Ted on this link: http://www.degreeinfo.com/education-teaching-related-degrees/46136-history-masters-programs-online.html

Unfortunately, none of them so far feature the needs I require (no GRE or MAT, no undergraduate minimum of History requirements). I liked APU but the Financial Aid process was a nightmare and no one in that department is ever reachable to resolve the issues so I've had to pass.

    Thanks again for your help!

WNMU MAIS would meet most of your requirements I think. There are a few on this board who have finished it or are presently pursuing it. Virtual Campus - Online Programs

Thanks, Rebel. I've actually submitted an application to WNMU. The History courses are not exactly what I would like, but it would allow me the 18 required to teach...and the price is right provided I don't exceed 6 hours a semester. For anyone on this board taking their program, can you tell me if there are proctors required? Also, they have three exit options. Does anyone know what the History and Criminal Justice exits are? (Comprehensive exam, thesis, etc.)

All the courses I looked at and the one I took were writing intensive, no exams. Might vary in courses like criminal justice.

Baker University Master of Liberal Arts. You can form an 18-credit concentration in history. No minimum GPA, no letters of recommendation, and no GRE/MAT. The school is ranked #33 among regional universities in the Midwest and charges $345 per credit hour. The only problem is that it looks like the scheduled history courses are spread out over at 2-year period.

Try again? DF goes down briefly periodically.

Matt Brent once told me that each department within the WNMU MAIS program offers both a thesis and comps and it is the student's choice whatever he/she prefers.

I finished the MAIS program at WNMU back in May and I have nothing but good things to say about the program. I concentrated in History/English and the majority of my teachers seemed caring and passionate - fully discernible even in the online environment. For the price, you'd be hard-pressed to find a program that's better than WNMU. Their History, English and Political Science courses are good, although limited in scope - many revolve around American History, or the West, although some courses are taught on European history by Dr. Lavalle - a distinguished and challenging teacher, who often expects lots of reading and long papers. I took several of his classes, but maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment! :lick: Love to tell anyone more details about the program, PM me.
