Do any online BA or certificate programs allow Unoffiical Transcripts?

Well, that's what they've told me. No 2 IDs in person, no transcript.

Three different people from the register's office have told me that, and one person from financial aid told me that. No exceptions for me even though I live far, far away.

They won't let me see my account or verify any info unless 1) I appear in person with 2 IDs, or 2) I get the confidentiality hold removed (also in person with the registrar, with original signature on appear). They also won't even acknowledge that I attended the school to any person or school so long as the confidentiality hold is on my account. Nor would my name appear on any alumni lists once I graduate. No official transcripts or verification to employers, either, while that hold exists. While the policy seems silly, that's what it is, and so far they haven't been willing to change it for me.

Clearly I didn't realize what exactly all the confidentiality hold entailed when I first added it to my account. I merely wanted to get removed from the directory, not make it impossible for me to register, get official transcripts, etc. unless in person.

If I didn't have the confidentiality hold on my account, they would issue official transcripts, register me, or do anything else remotely.

That should say "paper," not appear. I must appear in person with 2 IDs and fill out their paperwork in person, signing it on paper original signature, with the registrar to remove the confidentiality hold. Ditto with transcripts.

    And what school is this?

The OP's statements are contrary to FERPA as it regards directory information. Perhaps I am mistaken.

Prevent you from registering? That is absurd.

    Again, what school is this?

    From yor post #6:
Thanks. I actually don't want to transfer my credits-- I want my BA from my original school.
The problem is that I only have unofficial transcripts from my original school at the moment.

If you plan on returning to your original school then why bother trying to get transcripts since the original school has these anyway?

Does your original school have any distance courses?
Do they allow you to transfer in credit from other schools?
Can you take CLEP or DSST exams and obtain credit?

If none of these options work I would seriously think about enrolling one of the big three schools - you can transfer your credits from your "original school" later in the year. And the big three provide credit for CLEP/DSST exams.

Members of degreeinfo have been accepted into grad school with Big3 UG degrees including myself.

I got accepted into National's MBA, Union's Ph.D., and--well...let's leave it at that--based on my Regents bachelor's degrees. I've also been assigned as an assistant professor (or equivalent) at San Diego State U., Webster U., Virginia International U., U. of Phoenix, and Bellevue U. No troubles anywhere about my Regents degrees.

You wrote it...but I think we're all thinking it.
Either the OP is lying or is the type of personality that perpetually moves their goal post. In either case, I'm not sure that anything anyone says here is useful.

Write to the president of the school.

If that doesn't work, write to the board of the alumni association asking with concern if this could be an item at their next meeting. If it's really the case that no past student who placed this confidentiality hold can possibly have an official transcript issued without visiting the school in person, this could be an impediment to the further education and careers of a trail of alumni-who-move-away to come.

Umm. I explained this several posts ago. It's not boosting my GPA at the original school. It's boosting my "overall GPA" among all schools that I've attended. The Master's program I'm applying to wants to see a certain number of credit hours with a certain GPA. This particular Master's program will look at transcripts from ALL my schools that I've attended, not just one.

I plan to get the BA from an original school, and a certificate or similar program from a second school. The later has the benefit of adding more recent good grades for the Master's program I'm applying to, plus hopefully a useful work and academic credential. And, it gives me something meaningful to do while I'm working on my BA from the original school. Same goal, with a bonus of some extra classes in there. :)

I'm trying to finish my BA degree by self-study and testing at the original school. The certificate program isn't directly related to the BA degree. The certificate programs means: more affordable school, more recent good grades to apply to the Master's program I'm applying to, potentially a foreign language class available (I'm talking to the original school to see if they'll accept that particular class), more affordable tuition and financial aid possible since it's working towards a certain certificate, and hopefully a useful work and academic credential. I'm applying to a certificate program that someone mentioned earlier in this thread. It both will allow unofficial transcripts the first semester, plus this school said that I'm eligible for financial aid. Having either lower tuition or financial aid will be another plus of the certificate since the school someone mentioned earlier in this thread allows financial aid for certain certificate programs. For this I needed transcripts as I'm a "degree" (certificate) seeking student. The school I'm talking to right now said they could accept a copy of my official (but opened) transcript I had that's a few years old, with a copy of my unofficial transcripts for the first semester. Plus, they said the in-state and out-of-state tuition rates are the same for online students. If all works out well with the certificate program I'm in the process of applying to, I'll post back to recommend them. So far that school is making the whole process very easy.... great customer service.

My original school doesn't offer many online classes, and no classes that related to last my BA requirement or career. The original school is WAY too expensive to take more classes at. That's why I'm not taking online classes at the original school.

My original school allows credits to be transferred in, yes. I could potentially transfer in any other classes I take, but I would rather have a certificate or something I can add to my resume other than just "more classes."

My original school won't accept CLEP for the requirement I need, but I did find a professor willing to work with me on having a remote test done with a proctor, then verifying my placement results with the professor over a video conference call. So, I'm self-studying for that test, and a certificate program is something useful to do in the meantime. So, I'll self-study for the exam, have a BA certificate with more recent good grades, a credential to add to my resume instead of yet more undergraduate hours on my transcript at the original school, affordable tuition and/or financial aid, and possibly even a class that might be the one I need to get my original BA.

Basically, I'm looking at every possible option and trying to reach the goal of a BA and admission to my desired Master's program in as many ways possible. And, as affordable as possible. Plus, resume credentials, and so on. I very well might have over-complicated my situation, but I'm so ready to be done that I want to have all bases covered and make as efficient use of my time and money as I can.

I've been looking at Excelsior, but it doesn't appear that I could attend there and be financial aid eligible without transferring as a Bachelor's degree seeking student. Some certificate programs are financial aid eligible and would consider me a "degree seeking student," even for just a credit-bearing certificate. I've spent an incredible amount of money on the BA from the original school, and want to be cost efficient in how I finish the BA. Being a non-degree student that's not financial aid eligible would this cost me much more out of pocket than being a "degree seeking" (or eligible certificate seeking) student. If I can find a school that both allows this, offers a certificate useful to my career, and offers that one last class I need for a BA, I would hit a home run here. If the certificate only means a resume credential and better recent grades at an affordable price, I'm fine with that too-- I'm self-studying for the exam at the original school anyway. I haven't looked enough at the other 2 big schools.

If I don't finish my BA at the original school in the next year, I will definitely strongly consider transferring to one of the big 3. Those do seem like good options if needed. I'm holding out a little longer in hopes of finishing the BA at the original school, but if that doesn't pan out, I do like Excelsior. I talked to them once... they seemed very responsive to students. Which, with my current predicament, is a real plus.

I'm not familiar with DSST exams. I'll have to look into those.

    Thanks.

Once I have my conferred Bachelor's degree in hand from my original school, I very well might. I really should.

I chose to have the confidential hold added years ago, so that part is self-caused. But, surely they could let me verify that I am who I say I am remotely with notarized documents. I mean, sheesh.

I won't be rocking the boat until I have that degree in hand, though.

And, like I posted above, it appears that I have my solution here with a certificate program at another school that someone mentioned earlier in this thread. If it pans out and goes well, I'll post back to recommend that program.
