Those who could recall that Columbia University used to post Doctor of Engineering Science in Computer Science, but for some reason they removed from the site. The information is now back to the site of Columbia University's CVN again.

URL: Doctor of Engineering Science in Computer Science

Has anybody contact them about this program?

Oh my... that has always been one of my ideas for an online doctorate (assuming I could get accepted).

I think whether you can get into the program or not depends on your performance at Columbia University. Because they require you to start at non-degree seeking or Professional Degree (PD) before applying to become DngSc program. My only fear about the program is over $5,000.00 per course.

It is expensive. Not necessarily more than someone like Colorado Tech U in the end, which is sort of scary given the difference in quality (or at least perceived quality), but it is expensive.

Because the school is not regionally accredited, it's hard to say that doing such a degree contributes to the discipline in question--one's research is not readily available to other scholars. IMHO, this really negates a major purpose of the doctorate. The remaining element--further preparation for professional/occupational practice--is based on the quality of the program I have no insight into that.

    Columbia University is regionally accredited.

Which school are you talking about?

Are you thinking of Columbia Southern? This is THE Columbia.

Last week, I stayed at Columbia University while visiting my brother on campus. Despite the weather in New York City during the winter time, but I had very positive experience on campus environment. So, I visited the Columbia Video Network (CVN) by the Fu Foundation School of Engineering to find out more information about the Doctor of Engineering Science (DEngSc) program. Obviously, the program title is a little abnormal than other Doctorate program, but the program is designing for professional practitioners. Columbia University CVN is no longer offering Professional Degree (PD) in any discipline. The schools decided to offer students with direct Doctor of Engineering Science instead, but student must making the relationship with professor to sponsor for the admission. Admission office recommends to take non-degree courses prior applying for the Doctorate program.
    - No GRE requirement
    - No dissertation, 12 credits (points) of research for project with designated professor
    - Tution is still pricy, but at least you get a good brand out of the program, but still cheaper than most of Executive MBA programs from top schools.
    - Currently allowing to transfer up to 6 credits, but not after Fall 2015.

I plan to transfer to Columbia University's Doctor of Engineering Science in Computer Science if I have to volunteer dismiss from the Ph.D program at Nova Southeastern University for accademic unsatisfactory due to family problems.

Just incase you asked why! I received INCOMPLETE classes from last semester, which I was gained until February 14, 2015 to complete those classes. However, so many obligations requirements for divorce courts and Child Protective Services requirements that I have to complete. I had no time for to complete those classes. I plan to ask for another month extension, but if not getting approval I have to request involuntary dimissal.

Wow, didn't know they had so many DL degrees via distance learning.

    So pricey though.

It is pricey, but after looking at my brother's Fall 2014 tutition, and room & board was $36,000.00. I was not sure if that include meals or not. He took only 3 undergraduate courses while finishing his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Pennsylvania Sate University. Then I realize the entire Doctor of Engineering Science program costs only ~ $79,000.00 ($5,630.00 x 14), so that is not bad for a Doctorate degree from an Ivy leauge school.

The words "costs only" and "$79,0000" don't go together very often in mind. Will you really get that much utility out of this degree? Ivy League is great and all but its a peculiar doctorate and from your postings I get the sense you are not interested in a faculty position.
