What sort of problems are mathematicians working on these days? I'm amazed that there could be an oversaturation of math writers, necessitating non-traditional means of publishing.

On a barely related note, at times I spam my friends with my poetry and song lyrics. Next time, for the first time, I'm going to expiriment with putting them in an epub format. Self-publishing couldn't possibly be easier nor less expensive. Maybe I could one day sell my epubs online (dreaming...).

The only thing keeping commercial publishers in business is that tenure committees value their journals more highly than others. As younger people get in decision making positions, this will change -- another example of progress in academia happening one funeral at a time.

You can publish on Kindle for free, simply upload your word or pdf document. I did a "test" a while back, it's earned me 70 cents :)

OMG Steve, that's brilliant. I LOVE this "one funeral at a time" seriously, I may steal it. :hail:
