Next is in my sig line I realize I can't post yet, but here it is.....

AA Comm Arts (120 credits but they're COE so difficult to transfer) need a BA to continue teaching

3 month window: SL Business Communication, Pre-Algebra, College Algebra, Biology. Clep English Composition.
Next: SL English Comp 2, Clep Sociology/history.
Enrolled Liberty University, BSIS Fine Art/Education, 30 ish credits to go.

Really wish there was a less expensive option but no other RA schools would take my credits. I'm realizing a NA school would work after all to continue on to certification in Texas. if anyone has a suggestion I'd love to hear it.

Have you tried the 'Big Three?" (TESC, Charter Oak and Excelsior) They are all RA. Also check out APUS.

For NA schools, Cal Coast and Aspen are excellent schools. I speak from first hand knowledge of them.

 

Western Governors University accepts NA credits, they have DETC accreditation in addition to regional. I think it's cheaper than Liberty and also has a teacher licensing program. I believe you should be able to transfer all of your credits from Liberty and NA credits as well.

 

The "Big 3" only accepts RA credits, not NA. The only exception I know of would be if these NA credits are also ACE-approved and are transferred on an ACE transcript, not directly from the NA school. As for American Public University, they resigned from DETC so you'd have to check to see if they still accept NA credits.

 

NA credits have been accepted at Big three schools. Members here have done so, and Jamie Gauthier was the first do so at Excelsior I believe. The credits transferred were from Cal Coast. The big three may or may not accept NA school credits, just like many RA schools will not accept certain RA credits. It depends on the situation. The initial NA credit acceptance policies at EC were rather extensive. Years later, now that schools like EC have accepted NA credits and it is on record, the rules have become much more streamlined without the initial strigent policies. If I recall correctly, EC has accepted 9 graduate credits from Aspen U.

Excelsior accepts NA credits on a case-by-case basis. I don't know about Charter Oak, but my understanding is that TESC will absolutely not accept NA credits unless they are ACE or NCCRS-approved.

 

Southwestern College in Kansas will take all your NA credits and with an AA or AS will waive all general education requirements. Do you need any BA in any subject in order to continue teaching?

 

Based on previous posts and our private messages, I strongly advise this option.
