    Thanks Tekman.
BTW, are you taking classes at Nova yet?
I am in the NCU CAGS now and will be able to get out of NCU when it completes or resume the PhD. I don't know which it will be so I am looking around for options.

It's good to have options, but it's expensive (around $50,000 USD, unless I'm missing something).

Expensive compared to what? Other, comparable programs? Are there doctoral programs in IT that can be completed via DL for significantly less?

Anything from South Africa would be much less, and CSU is already international (well, to non-Australians, but that's most people).

Someone else on this board who got their PhD from UNISA said it took them 4 years and about $30k. It's $4k per year plus you have to make 3 trips over there to present and defend your work in stages.

Here's what I posted in another thread on some different doctorates in computers
    - Dakota State ~$28k
    - Pace Univ. ~$66k
    - Nova ~$65k
    - Capella ~$60k
    - CTU ~$60k

Perhaps, but that's still cheaper, and more importantly, Unisa is far from being South Africa's only university.

    Ryoder,

Yes, I am taking 2 classes at Nova during this semester. However, I am planning to drop out of the program because I am encountering certain flexibility problems. I just found out that Nova is not a Military/Veteran friendly as I have to pay tuition late fees while waiting for the VA to pay them. I have two infants, and it is extremely hard to follow the schedule and two residencies per term. I am searching for Doctorate by research from Foreign countries. I am in favorable to UK and AU's academic institutions; however, their price tags are unbelievable. Therefore, I am aiming for University of South Africa's Ph.D in Computer Science or Ph.D in Information Systems.

I just realize that I do not want to seek for full-time scholar position, and a Ph.D might not a good return on investment if a program that costs more than $40,000.00. A Doctorate degree for me are only for personal enrichment as well as credential for consulting, and maybe writing books. As coming from a lower class family with minimal education, my parents completed elementary school, and most of siblings completed middle school due to poverty and discrimination. Therefore, a Doctorate degree for me a pride.

Besides, you get 3 trips out of the degree to visit Cape Town and Johannesburg.

I might like that, but I recognize that to many people that would be more of a bug than a feature. :)
