    Hello all,

For those who still remember me (I've been mostly away from here for some time), I recently graduated from Capella University (September 30th). I have attained my Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling. Additionally, I maintained a 4.00 GPA throughout my whole program (an "A"/"S" in every course, every quarter - as appropriate for the grading of that course). I will have the graduate level honor of "Graduate with Distinction" listed on my diploma (a 3.85 is the minimum GPA required). This has been a huge endeavor, but I am finally done!

Just to be clear (for those of you inclined to ask...lol), I will not be pursuing a doctorate. I might do a certificate in the future for gerontology, but thats it.

    Be well all,

    Shawn

    Congratulations!!!

Could you share some of your good and not-so-good experiences in the program as a heads-up to those who might think of pursuing a degree at Capella? Thanks!

Congrats, I think we talked before you enrolled in the program. Will you pursue licensure?

    Arch23,

Hmmm....lots of writing, lots of reading, and some assignments that had no relevant connection to the program. Good things: Connecting with other students and faculty. You will read much and be very busy in the program. Prepare for lots of academic rigor and study. This is not a cake walk degree. You will find yourself wondering why you started, and be willing to go the distance to finish - even if you want to quit. Ups and downs, all part of the process. Thanks for the note of congratulations.

    Psydoc,

Yes, I think I remember having a conversation that involved my debating the program. I will be pursuing licensure, after my post-grad hours are completed and I am NBCC certified. I ultimately plan on working in Canada, though they have little regulations for the mental health profession (a completely different issue). Making plans to open the next chapters of my life. Thanks for the kudos.

    AdjunctInstructor,

Thank you for the compliment. I have not heard that expression in quite some time.
