I am in a Masters Program online with Academic Partnerships in Arkansas, but I dont see any online courses through them for accounting.

For job promotion purposes, I need 6 semester credit hours in Accounting - the job calls it Principles of Accounting., but basically it is the Introduction to Accounting 101 and 102 (or similar).

I would like something starting now, this September or independent study - but the end result must have a transcript showing the passing grade, credit, the school and my information.

The community colleges here in California are all closed for Fall 2012 or the classes starting this month are already full.

I am interested in Straighterline, but does that mean that I have to apply at one of their partner colleges to get a transcript once I take them? Does that mean that I have to take classes with that partner college to get a transcript or will the transcript just say transfer credit?

Any suggestions on the best partner colleget to select. It looks like AIU and Liberty waive the admission fee.

Costs are my main concern. I am still paying out of pocket for my Master's and don't want to pay $500-800 per class for the accounting too, especially it if it not towards a degree program.

    Help! Thank you!

    Ideas

APU has classes starting often, they didn't have an application fee last time it checked. American Public University System - Official Site - 877-755-2787

Bellevue College www.bellevuecollege has a term starting 9/18 and has openings in their Accounting 201 Principals of Accounting class. As of today, there are 20 open "seats". Fall 2012 Accounting-Transfer Credit Class Schedule at Bellevue College I think to get 6 semester credits, you'd have to take a whole year so you'd need 201, 202 and 203. (Full disclosure - I teach there but not accounting.)

Louisiana State U has old-fashioned correspondance courses. Many here have found them useful, as you may be able to study at your own speed and get finished faster.

Try Southeast Community College. They offer around 200 online courses and their tuition for out-of-state students is very reasonable. They are on the quarter system though...keep that in mind. They charge $66.50 per quarter hour for out-of-state students. They also charge a "student services" fee per quarter of $1.25. This makes a typical three semester hour course (4.5 quarter hours) about $304.88.

If you went through Straighterline, you could get a transcript from ACE. Would that work with your job? If you knocked out the two accounting courses in two months, your total cost would be $280. It would be hard to beat that price at an online college.

If you need a transcript from an actual school, you could still take the courses at Straighterline and then use the credit bank service through either Excelsior or Thomas Edison State College. This allows you to put the courses on a transcript without being an enrolled student.

I finished the classes at Straighterline in one weekend back in the fall! Yes! Now I need the transcript. I tried to get Arkansas State (where I am finishing up a masters degree) to take them, but I have not succeeded in getting them to do it. The credit banking fee at TESC is $514!!!! Charter Oak is $433! I only have 6 hours and I only need it for my job. Straighterline's letter says I passed the courses and shows the grades, but does not list 6 hours. ACE will not show 6 hours either I was told.

How can I get a transcript showing I took ACCT 101 and ACCT 102 and gained 6 credit hours without spending much more money please help!?

    Thanks!

What about Excelsior College? I heard it was less than $300 for the service. I'd post a link but their website is down at the moment...

If I register at a school as a non-degree seeking student, and take another accounting class there. Do you think I can transfer my Straighterline credits to that school and get a transcript with all three showing up on there? I could probably pay for another accounting class for the same price as the banking services are charging for 12 months of banking.
