Okay, so I am returning to school as a career changer, I already have a bachelors in business and more-then halfway done with my MBA. Life is short and I want to work in my passion. however I am a little stuck on the major. There’s so many out there and it seems when I talk to a college advisor they tend to want to guide me to the majors they offer, versus seeing what I actually want to do, this is what I want to do:
    1. I enjoy counseling people on nutrition, total wellness and exercising and creating programs/plans for them.
    2. I am interested in holistic women’s health, i.e. vitamins and supplements that help bring the body to balance.
    3. I am also interested in coaching and counseling those that may have psychological issues with food due to their environment.
    4. I have a strong background in human resources, an option for me would be to create Corporate Wellness Programs for companies.

The majors I’m deciding against are:
    1. Nursing
    2. Health Promotion
    3. Nutrition
    4. Health Psychology
    5. Social Work

Which one do you feel is better aligned with my goals?

Based on your preferences I'd say that the Nursing degree would be the most versatile.

It completely depends on you. Your job becomes easier as you already have pointed out few options. Out of your interests, you can pick any. If I would been there in your place, I would have pursued a course on human resources because of my interest in it and for its future growth prospects.

I am second to Kizmet, Nursing degree would be appropriate. Why don't you use finish up your MBA, then continue for another Master in Nursing?

If I'm not mistaken, you typically need to get an AA in Nursing, then a BA, then the Masters. Nursing is a sensitive subject which takes practice and a B&M school initially for your AA degree. You can get your BA and Masters online, but the AA is your ticket in. I may be wrong but this is what I have experienced from my own research.

    Caliicool,

Going from a business background to a health/human centered field definitely offers a different twist. Here is my advice...

If you want to pursue nursing, look into your local community college (Unless there is an Online AA/BA nursing program that is going to offer you the practical applied skills; I haven't seen one, so if there is, please someone share this info). If you decide to do this, it may take 2+ years to get your AA and then from there you can move onward online. Also, many CC are impacted with this degree choice so take that into consideration.

If you want to take a psychological twist to business you can consider a masters in I/O Psychology (but then again this focuses on the HR / how people function at work approach--not the health area you're interested).

You can also go into the Counseling sector; there are a lot of fields in counseling where you can gain practical experience.

I would ultimately say, focus on your "COMMITMENT" not your "INTEREST". You can both, but if you only have your interest, what is going to keep the fire going inside you to finish and enjoy your day to day life? If you have a commitment, it keeps you motivated because you see value, and self-worth in your own tangible goals. Keep this in mind whichever direction you go.
