Found out my private HS is a scam

This was years ago. Long story short--it was and still is a scam (I just discovered a website called Better Business Bureau of the Southland) and I ran it though the systems and failure.

To be honest I must admit it did look and feel fishy in the back of my head I have always know. I belive I was in my late teens then I am now 23.
Now here is the weird part (funny right). After that I attended 2 JC's. The first one was where I did the mass majority of my work with no problems the second one was well aware of what was happening over their and seemed to careless and accepted me no problem. I can think of three other people who said the "diploma" was not accepted by any schools they applied to....Mind you between the 3 two applied straight into a 4yr and the other some technical college.

Now here I am at the end of my JC journey--earned my AA degree and it is now time for me to apply to transfer in the fall. I have considered myself ignorantly fortunate (I was so happy not knowing this) up until now. Now I am worried about this transferring situation. Will any of this come back and bite me in the butt .I certainly hope it does not. I HONESTLY worked my way through my JC--this was not a private JC it is very well know college.

    To make the question more-clear.
Will me attending an unaccredited HS--then earning my AA effect me getting into the university of my choice ?

I think your higher degree will define your academic credentials.

I can't imagine that it will. Your AA more than "covers" a less than reputable HS Diploma.

No, don't worry about it. Only your first college even checks into you high school status. It is likely that you will never hear about it again. Just stay quiet about it and you are probably fine.

I think you'll be fine. In my case, I took about 30 credit hours worth of undergraduate courses from 4 different schools as a non-degree seeking student. None of those schools asked to see my HS diploma since I wasn't seeking a degree at the time.

When I finally did choose a degree program, they didn't ask for my HS diploma because I already had 30 credit hours of college courses to transfer in. So due to your AA degree, I'm sure you'll have no problems.

I have a GED. I never attended high school of any kind. Once I completed my AA, the topic of high school never came up.

There was a member that in one way or the other had similar story but at the bachelor level and went into a masters program, his BA was from an unaccredited school. However he had no issue completing an accredited graduate degree, but he felt the need to rectify the situation and went back and earned his BA from an accredited college. I can remember his name I believe was Earon Kavanah or something like that (old timers feel free to correct me). However, I search the forum and found another story here is the link:http://www.degreeinfo.com/general-distance-learning-discussions/1354-my-personal-experience-unaccredited-degree-mill-degree.html.

I don't believe the diploma at the high school level should be an issue if you depart from the AS to continue your education. Some schools will ask you for a copy of your high school diploma and or a transcript as a formality and that may be an issue at that particular school.

I don't think you have problem with higher education for the future. If you were denied, then they already denied at the Junior College. Since then, your Junior College accreditation is more important. As I move to graduate schools; none of the schools have asked me for my high school diploma nor transcript. I don't even list it in my resume anymore; even thought I earned 32 credits for 24 credits for advanced high school diploma.

You will absolutely have no worries. Many high schools, including public ones, are "unaccredited." I didn't even know there was accreditation for high schools until the last couple of years. It is just a check in the box that is far more random than higher education.

Thank this forum and this community for making me feel SO much better!
I cannot apply for anything until this voting matter happens in the fall here in California (it will determine a lot for all students) and knowing that this is one issue that will not come back to bite me makes me feel SO SO much better!
    Thank you!
