    Hi,

I just wonder if anybody is teaching or taught in Aspen University.

I started to teach in Aspen in March 2012. According to the contract, I get paid a fixed amount money per student. One student completed a class in April 2012. I submitted the student's final grade. According to the contract, I should get paid in May 2012, e.g. Aspen should mail me a check (Aspen does not support Direct Deposit).

But until now (June 2012), I still did not receive the payment. I contacted Aspen several times. But no answer.

I just wonder if this is normal. What can I do? Thanks.

    Welcome to adjuncting!

I taught a class for a B&M school where our cheques where held 3 months

We're not in it for the income, we're in it for the outcome
    (someone I don't remember)

But it is a job not volunteer work. What would happen if the students did not pay on time????

Some schools abuse adjuncts, some schools reduce salaries and others just do not raise them in years while others take forever to pay. Unfortunately, the schools have the upper hand given the massive amount of qualified people willing to take abuse.

My advice is to avoid virtual schools and teach mainly at B&M schools with solid reputations and hr departments that can help you in this matters.

    Contact @ Aspen

I have been teaching at Aspen since 2008, you might want to try reaching out to Maggie McCarthy at the office, she will get you straightened out.
