    Hi all

Does anyone know anything about the University of West Georgia? Does it have a good reputation? Any experiences?

I was looking at this course: Online MS in Applied Computer Science

Also - any thoughts on doing Computer Science by distance learning? This is a program for people who do not have a first degree in CS.

    Thanks!

I don't have nay experience with UoWG; however, it is state school. Therefore, you cannot go wrong with the institution, but reputation wide...there is a little known about the school. I did my undergraduate in Computer Science at Troy University. As for financially, I did not regret to complete via distance learning. What is the purpose of your degree? What are you going to do with it? Any studies can be completed via distance learning, but you have to use it somehow; otherwise, it does not matter.

This looks like a promising program. I don’t know much about West Georgia personally. I’ve heard of them because they compete in the same conference as The University of West Alabama, but I don’t know about their reputation. However, I agree with TEKMAN’s statement about never going wrong with a state school.

I'm considering giving this program a shot.

University of West Georgia - USG Institutions - University System of Georgia

West Georgia has a fair reputation within the region and is a member of the University System of Georgia. I believe they are pretty heavily involved in online learning, acting as a hub for some of the e-learning programs within the system. They are a medium sized undergrad/master's university (no PhD programs).

I know a girl doing her master's and working as a RA there and she has had nothing but good things to say about it, the few times she's mentioned it.

I don't have any direct experience, but looking over what's on the website it looks pretty interesting.

I'm looking at their EdD prog. They say you have to visit twice but that they could waive the second time for me. Seems competitive. Not sure how I could go there just for the weekend. But I'll figure something out.
